New Owner For 888

Story Here

Interesting…

Most especially as the principals of Shaw & Partners as well as Southern Cross Truck Rentals appear to be the new investors.

I seem to recollect them as perhaps being major branding partners in last year’s championship winning team.

I wonder, with Ms Dane’s reported downsizing of her shareholding, if the punters on the hill, and those weaponising their keyboards, will stop blaming Roland Dale for everything

Nice pickup WWOS… leaving Speedcafe & Auto Action for dead.. again…

Very interesting.

Maybe Dane invests in US teams going forward.

Interesting buyers and namaing

Interesting development in 888 world.

Does RD still own a share in the business?

JW needs to step back, and get Barry from Erebus and Telecom Ted involved and watch the whole the whole thing implode.

WWOS may be benefitting from being part of Nine Entertainment who probably may somebody in their business section monitoring all ASIC lodgements. There was a change in officeholder lodged back on 29 May, perhaps this was a clue?

Despite your clear dislike of Auto Action and Speedcafe GTR Magic, bet you are still an avid reader. WWOS may have had some of the recent scoops, but if the likes of the aforementioned publications didn't exist, there would be very little coverage. Witness how, apart from Bathurst, Supercars rarely gets a mention in The Age or Sydney Morning Herald's print editions.

Being an ‘avid reader’ doesn’t stop me wanting each/either/both of them to be better. Much better.

Well done to Jess, and to Simon for breaking the story too.

Jamie Biden now has potentially 60% of the voting bloc back again, after Jess had to abstain from voting due to a conflict of interest with a driver. That gave Edinburgh Rock the majority vote, which didn't please Roland Obama too much after he'd set the sale structure up to give Jamie and Jess 60% of the vote.

Will there now be a Dane-Morris-Said NASCAR team?

Hasn’t for some time.
Ownership split according to that article is Mr Quinn @ 40%, Mr Whincup @ 30% and the other 2 @ 15% each, all held thru whatever legal vehicle they chose.

Given both their prosperity to print rubbish especially in the 24/7 news cycle, would the sport really be worse off if they went away?

Both have descended into gutter journalism in the past 12 months

Playing the same get out of jail free card that WWOS used in January, when it published:

On Tuesday it was revealed by motorsport outlet Speedcafe that the 2023 champion had parted company with the title-winning team.

And has done again within the last 24 hours publishing:

Despite signing a two-year contract extension to stay at Red Bull until 2026 recently, Auto Motor und Sport reports the Mexican could be in danger of losing his seat if he doesn't show signs of improvement, with Ricciardo the leading candidate to replace him.

So earlier in the year they were placing their mates interests ahead of those of their readers, and now they are engaging in gutter journalism. Appears they are damned if they do, damned if they don't.
