Pizzonia in Heidfeld out!?
After his miserable performance on sunday how long till Williams dump Heidfeld into the test role and promote Pizzonia!?! Antonio did a fine job last year and deserves the seat IMO. I think after 5/6 races it will be his. Anyone else any thoughts?

And pizzonia is?
This guy is finally in a top team. And we are talking about kicking him out after his first race with a new team. Do we kick Montoya out of Mclaren, after which throw JV into the sea? Give these guys reasonable room to prove themselves. I may not be a die-hard fan of any of them, but i'd like to see them succeed, not fail. |

MS was caught out in quali, otherwise he'd have done better. Heidfeld was just useless all weekend. Pizzonia would have been faster IMO.

Why are we talking about MS? This thread is about Heidfeld and Pizzonia.

Well, I don't think its sensible to make such a judgement after only one race.
I personally don't think Pizzonia aquitted himself particularly well last year in the races he did, but he wasn't terrible. Nick's performance at the Australian Grand Prix was a little disappointing in Quali, but in the race he was doing OK until he retired. I don't think there was much in it in lap times between Webber and Heidfeld, and there wasn't much in it in pre-season testing either. Lets see how the next couple of races go, it would be highly unlikely a driver to get the sack before the first 5 or 6 races afterall. |

He was not destroyed by Frentzen.
Anyway, Heidfeld showed some good pace in the race in Melbourne, before Mr Schumacher ended it. |

It is a little early to judge anyone's performance with only one race being completed and that after the rain messed with qualifying. Lets put this discussion on hold until the picture clears a little.

I would agree with that.
Even though i wanted Pizzonia to get the drive over Nick I still feel Nick performed pretty well at melbourne. In fact it was hard to judge anyones performance really cause of the quali situation. Still if you retire from a GP because you are racing MS for a position then you cant be doing that bad can you ? |

You cannot use that as evidence, all it says is Kimi is better than Nick, but we all know Kimi is probably better than Nick and Pizzonia. Without being able to compare Pizzonia to Kimi, what point does that post make? If you're going to try and prove Pizzonia should be in the car, rather than Heidfeld, you've got to make direct comparisons or else you end up coming up with a list of who's better than both of them, which is only a subjective assessment of Pizzonia and Heidfelds ability overall, not which driver is the faster of the two. The car was not a regular points scorer - HHF scored big in a couple of races where Heidfeld retired with mechanical problems. When assessing drivers in teams that are not at the sharp end, we have to look beyond the points table. |
