Teams Championship?

All the chatter about how good some drivers are going against others, its interesting to bring the numbers to the lowest common denominator, and work out who is where in the championship for teams (read: franchises)

So the championship pointscore looks a little something like this (unofficial of course...):

1. Marcos Ambrose (Ford) 366
2. Russell Ingall (Ford) 324
3. Paul Weel (Holden) 279
4. Craig Lowndes (Ford) 277
5. Greg Murphy (Holden) 273
6. Mark Skaife (Holden) 264
7. Paul Radisich (Holden) 261
8. Jason Bright (Ford) 256
9. Todd Kelly (Holden) 252
10. Steven Richards (Holden) 225
11. Paul Morris (Holden) 218
12. Glenn Seton (Ford) 204
13. Jamie Whincup (Holden) 202
14. John Bowe (Ford) 201
15. Rick Kelly (Holden) 196
16. Steven Johnson (Ford) 195
17. Garth Tander (Holden) 184
18. Cameron McConville (Holden) 183
19. Paul Dumbrell (Holden) 183
20. Mark Winterbottom (Ford) 156
21. Max Wilson (Holden) 150
22. Brad Jones (Ford) 147
23. Anthony Tratt (Holden) 133
24. Steve Ellery (Ford) 132
25. Jason Richards (Holden) 115
26. Andrew Jones (Holden) 115
27. Matthew White (Ford) 95
28. David Besnard (Ford) 95
29. Craig Baird (Ford) 90
30. Steve Owen (Ford) 84
31. Simon Wills (Holden) 80
32. Greg Ritter (Ford) 70
33. Jason Bargwanna (Ford) 38
34. Alex Davison (Holden) 36

... which means that in terms of which team is where..... or when you look at it on a per car per team basis... sometimes its even more telling...

Pos Team Level Points Cars Avg/car
1 SBR L1 690 2 345.0
2 PWR L1 552 2 276.0
3 TKR L2 261 1 261.0
4 HRT L1 516 2 258.0
5 PMM L2 218 1 218.0
6 888 L1 409 2 204.5
7 TPR L2 408 2 204.0
8 DJR L1 399 2 199.5
9 HSV L1 380 2 190.0
10 BJR L1 348 2 174.0
11 FPR L1 326 2 163.0
12 TAS L1 317 2 158.5
13 LON L1 150 1 150.0
14 GRM L1 298 2 149.0
15 PLR L2 133 1 133.0
16 LMS L1 194 2 97.0
17 WPS L1 185 2 92.5
18 BRI L2 179 2 89.5
19 DYN L1 80 1 80.0
20 RNR L2 36 1 36.0
Total 6079 34 178.8

Is this something we should be interested in, and looking at mentioning at the end of each round, to see which teams are underperforming, and those punching above their weight??

I thought so, but last time I looked at the official site, it didnt mention it....

I know 2 rounds are not statistically significant yet (especially with that horrible drop round GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!) but its interesting to see who is the class and who is at the a... bottom

I think a constructors championship would be good. It doesnt relate to the number 1 on the side of the car but its something a team could take pride in.

Two single car teams in the Top 5 - Wow!! Technically speaking though, arent they one team (TKR and PMM), which when you add their individual points together, they are the clear leader by a LONG LONG way?

Your maths is a little wayward....218 + 261 is 479, which is behind HRT, so they'd be fourth overall...

I would have thought teams that are Grouped should be put together for a teams championship...

e.g. PMM and TKR
LON and DYN

I would say that it was a combination of a lack of awakeness and looking at the wrong column. My sincerest apologies.
