And even better, leave Sheila with your email address so that I can send you the next newsletter electronically. You get it earlier and save the club money.

Why can't we do this in the North?
I've been told it's not possible due to tax reasons (Ithink it was Tax!)

Mark, we have been sending out email newsletters for the last 3 months. Just wish a few more would bother to read the bit requesting people to subscribe to this option. There is also the other option of downloading it from the north region page of the BMMC web site.
Take that is you voulunteering for the email list?

Eric

I think Mark is correct. A couple of years ago, this same item came up within the BMMC. At the time I thought it was ruled that if we published Newsletters on the Website, we are guilty of publishing in a form that should attract VAT.
Perhaps George; or somebody with a better memory could either confirm or deny. I must add, that I could be totally wrong, so shall apologise in advance!

Yes that's what I was getting at, and hold my hands up at not realising that Eric was mailing us North members!

Just adding, I think that the basis of the argument was, that if we circulate a Newsletter to Members via snail-mail etc; it was a restricted circulation within our Membership.
By publishing on the web, it was open to anybody to read who logs-on, therefore, in a position to attract VAT., by so publishing! I shall now be shot down in flames!!

I receive it by e-mail, and I have to say I prefer it that way. Not least because my wife doesn't tidy it up before I've read it! Seriously, I think it's a very handy and effective way of receiving it.

There was a specific VAT issue some years ago, which was resolved without difficulty as far as the Marshals' Club was concerned. However, VAT has become a notoriously complex tax and who knows what might be lurking out there to catch us out. That said, the savings on email compared to the cost of paper and postage are considerable and must surely command serious consideration by any club seeking to save cost.
