Kelly Girl Lola 490 #13 1977

I am looking for colour photos of the #13 Kelly Girl Lola T490 S2000 from 1977. This is the Divina Galica car and I am considering returning it to original colours but need help with the shade of green and decal, lettering placement. Rubbing off the current paint reveals a green that I need to verify as the original shade. Any help??

cheers bob k.

rcarr has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I have found a picture of a "KellyGirl" #13, I assume it is the same car?

Hope this helps:

Its such a good website for "historical" research

I do not think that this is the sports 2000 car, this looks more like the Thundersports car.

This is the "Kelly Girl Olimpic", or something similarly named, built by Brands Hatch based Jack Epstein for Thundersport racing back in 1984 (or '83...), raced (with little success), among others, by Divina Galica and Tiff Needell.

Don't know/remember about the "origins" of the car...

I thought it might be a little helpful for Bob K, considering it is a KellyGirl and it is green, I put 2 and 2 together, I thought, that that shade of green was a reoccuring theme for the KellyGirl team/outfit? I could be wrong!

...and you can eventually try to look for pics, and references here:

this being the company previously known as "Kelly Girls", good luck!

Personally I would say both the thundersport and the Tiga S2000 are painted in the same shade of green.

Could be, but I think it must be considered that often, if not always, it isn't easy to catch the absolutely correct shade/name/code of a paint through photos/pictures, even printing can be confusing, best thing to do is to get the original paint code

Hi Bob,

I have come across these photos.

Not sure if they are of any help but they were taken at Brands hatch sept 1980.

The car was being used to give 'hot laps'. Its me in the pasanger seat!

Thanks for the images, for some reason the middle one won't load for me.

Do you recall the driver and or owner of the car?

I still suspect that my car went to John "Pancho" Webb and may be the car in your other image of Webb in R G Racing car.

Divina was kind enough to send me a few photos of her so I have a good idea of the colour scheme. Still trying to trace and verify ownership history of the car. In the RG Racing photo, does the front wheel opening look like the stock radius, or does it appear elongated at rear edge?

cheers bob k.

Having been living with my body on my T 490 so the last 4 weeks, I think the front arches in the pics are correct. The fronts look to high on my body, but they all seem that way from the factory.

I suspect Nordic's pics are of one of the Brands Hatch Racing 'school' T490s, not the Divina car. The colour of Divi's T490 is a different green to that shown in the pics, all green no white and much darker green IIRC.

Dan, your memory serves you well, Divi's car was all green and as you say, a darker shade. I am curious as to the B-H school cars, do you know how many there were and where they got them from. The Lola records only show 1 car being delivered to J Webb M.C.D.. On the other hand, my car shows purchaser as Divina even though she says she had no money to buy one, and the car was not hers but rather bought for her use by J Webb and or Brands Hatch, she does not recall.

Any ideas where the Brands cars ended up?

It was a school car for sure, while I was there my brother was having a day driving a FF car around, so I would assume it was owned by either Brands Hatch School or somebody connected to them, John Webb?

Seeing as my photo was taken in Sept 1980, would it not be possible that after Divna had finished with it it was passed to them?

If it helps any I only recall seeing one S2000 car there, and there are more in the background of any of the pictures.

I don't know who the driver was but it would have been one of the instructors from the school.

From memory, it was a slightly darker shade of the green in the first (Thundersports) picture, nothing at all like the "leafy green" of the green and white car. The "Kelly Girl" logos were in white, and quite large and prominent, from what I remember.

Chaps, great colour pic of the Divi T490 on TNF now, in the 'Personal Photos of cars on the Track' thread.

Found it:
Can't copy the pic to here, but a great shot indeed.

Interesting how the body is different to other 490/2 's i've studied. This has an extra front rad duct and separate rear splash panels to the rear of the rear wheels.
The 492 is quite different.

Geoff and Bugeye, thanks for the great shots, just what I was hoping for.
Any and all others most welcomed. Any one have good side shots showing
the type of wheel she was using?

I have forwarded some shots to Divina
for old times sake.

cheers bob k.
