Fantastic. First date for my diary sorted.
New caravan due in April, better make sure we've got it by then. Although I'm not sure this is right: "what is a much sort after event". Sought after, quite possibly. |

Is It Really? ...
... Haven't we been here before?
I do hope it's true as we need a GB 24hr race - in whatever form. Time will tell |

Gosh!
Well, if it happens, then that will be the first one that Bill & I will not be able to do. Goodbye, PieLady. |

I'm not convinced by the use of the International layout.

I don't believe it will be on International circuit.. it is more likely to be the full GP ... the reason I say this is because the claim is 80 cars... international would be maximum of 60 ish ... and Britcar claim they will be using both pits.. and that is impossible unless you use the GP layout ...

I rather imagine that there was a minor typo somewhere along the line. Referring to the Silverstone International (capital i) circuit refers to a specific circuit configuration; using Silverstone international (lower case i) circuit could be taken to imply Silverstone, which hosts a great deal of international motorsport. As such a typographical error can change the meaning of the sentence.

In which case, since they're using the full circuit, I am happy to see it back. I hope their ambitious claims come to fruition. Elsewhere, I'm quite surprised that MJC are using the old 360? I know the 430 had a big crash at Brands Hatch in 2013, was it deemed a write-off? Then again, the entry list states they're in a 430, while there's an article that seems extremely sure they're in the 360 GTC. Are we expecting any major international teams to join the fray? |

The date clashes with this (as run by the organisers of the Dubai 24hrs):
http://www.12hzandvoort.com/ So that may reduce Silverstone interest for Europeans.. |

Never done a 24 hour race could be fun has anyone expressed an interest via there website. I have read it and says training days about a month before anyone know what that involves. If marshalling would you be required all 4 days

I've no idea about the extra training day mentioned on the website - it isn't terminology used with regards to announcements regarding previous races. In terms of volunteering to marshal, I'd assume 'normal' procedures would apply (i.e. you just volunteer for the days that you can make). Given the number of people needed to run a 24hr race, I'm sure that everyone that volunteers would be needed.

So, just to give you some insight, most of the meeting runs like a normal race meeting, with P & Q for the support races. The first difference really is that the 24 hour cars have a night practise session on Friday night, so after an hour (or two?) break after a normal Friday, (if you're there) you'll be back on post for a couple of hours for that. Saturday runs like a normal meeting, until the 24 hour gets underway - in the past it has started at around 16:30. From then on, you'll probably be into shift work - usually 4 hours on / 4 hours off, but I believe some posts organise themselves as they feel convenient. At around 16:28 on Sunday, you'll hear the radio message "Race control to all points, the leader is on the last lap," at which point, it's time to start thinking about packing up everything on post. |

When I've done the 24hr (flaggy both times), I've just done the 24hrs race only (obviously letting the Chief Marshal first). I then do the first stints to give the other flaggy whose probably been there all day a break.

When flagging with two on the post we've found it beneficial overnight to do two 6 hour stints. I'm a night owl so I do 9 to 3 and then have 3 to 9 off. This gives time for a really good 4-5 hour sleep with breakfast before going back out and we were both pretty fresh afterwards.

The more marshals we have the better it will be for us... My volunteering form should be available pre Christmas ... and should be available at www.brsccmids.co.uk , www.brscc.co.uk , www.marshals.org.uk , and others .. and of course the 24hr race will be on there..

27 entries already, according to the original link. Last time I did this, it felt a little empty with 30, but that's probably because the year before there were 60. Hopefully it will be closer to that by the time we get round to it. I'll be putting my name down for this one, regardless
