Who gets the prize money?
So far this season the drivers have earned a massive amount of money. Do the drivers keep it or do the teams?

I've seen figures suggesting that around 25% goes to the driver, 25% to the mechanics and 50% to the team owners.
I have no idea how accurate that is, however, so don't quote me on it ![]() |

Mostly I've heard 60/40 team/driver. I'm sure it varies from team to team.

It does vary from team-to-team...but the 60/40 team/driver split is a commonly accepted or understood payout split in this form of racing.... It actually can range from 30-40% for the driver, but that is what I've usually heard it to be... |

It can vary even fron driver to driver, depending on the funding a driver can provide etc.

I would imagine that some of the (higher-profile) drivers have very lucrative contracts regarding prize monies. I don't doubt that the 60/40 split is reasonably accurate on the mostpart, but some drivers likely get more (or less) than that.

As noted by all of us, contracts and splits will vary, depending on the driver, the team, etc....
I have little doubt that many situations and agreements between drivers and teams are very different.... But a range of 30-40% would give you a good ballpark for an average team, depending on how much sponsor or personal $$$ the driver brings to the table, etc... |

Even at 40% Dan is earning a good wage in IRL!!!
I wonder how much it costs to run a team as even Paul Dana has picked up nearly $120k in only 3 races? |
