DiRT
Anyone else downloaded and played the PS3 demo yet?
Must admit it looks nice and the damage is certainly there! |

Ooh, an Elite! Let us know how it is, that's on my wishlist (I will wait for the updated chipset though).
DiRT is a terrific game. Now, I expect someone to come in and have a song and dance over the physics or some such yawniness, but really if you're not pretending to be a "purist" (how I love that word!) it is a very good game. Although it is a bit short. |

Got the demo, great fun.
May buy it. The amazing brakes are rubbish, they're nowhere near realistic, codemasters should be shot etc |

Munky. Don't know if you've noticed, but DiRT is shooting down in price a fair bit.
Morrisons has it for £24.99 for example. Gamestation £29.99. Pounce now my friend. |

I would have to agree its quiet short. For 4 hours racing ive 70% of it completed.... including all the arcade racing... But the replay eye candy is unmatched. To be honest there has been times where ive been in a S1600 Corsa speeding through the forrest in GB and became immersed in the action, the amount of scenery detail is amazing. |

I enjoyed the Demo, limited as it was. The damage looks good, but I did find it a bit silly that I could wear down the engine, turbos and cooling to 0% and still drive. Seems as though the only thing that will actually get you retired is the loss of a wheel. Still, good fun trying other ways...

The scenery is fabulous, got to agree.
Even the little things amaze. I'll never forget my first German stage where I made a hideous error and left the road, ploughing into a deep crop field and scattering wooden posts and stuff everywhere. It just looked and sounded fantastic. You almost want to do it again and again! |

I have the 360 ver, and use the wheel.
I expected after all the criticism to find an arcade racer, but on tarmac I'm really impressed with the handling, lift off oversteer in the clio's has never been so much fun. The buggys \ corr etc do feel a bit too random tho, not up to the same feel. Oh, and that slo-mo button during replays, it looks just incredible as you opp lock in rallycross, from dirt to tarmac, just lovely... |

Yeh, i like how tight the stages are aswell. I foudn in the WRC games and previous McRae games that the stages seemed very wide.... Yet in this they seem to alternate quiet nicely...

There is a set of tarmac stages (possibly Japan?) where you are basically threading the car through the eye of a needle through very tightly compacted sequences of turns at a fair old rate, the road lined by nasty walls that could throw you off track or destroy your car.
I won one of these stages online and the tension when you are driving them is unbelievable. The concentration required is ball-busting. |
