Welcome zxea!
No, I don't agree - I like the current Jag linup. My only hope is that the Jag continues to improve next year. |

THe rumours suggest that Jag have decided to have a second driver who's only there to pay for the development on Webber's car. That doesn't sound much like Villeneuve...

Since Jacques' options are quite limited at this point, I suspect he would take just about any decent ride to remain in F1.
It will require a tremendously creative contract for Jacques to remain in F1 next year, I'm sure even his ardent fans realize this, especially the longer it goes without resolution. |

It would be a good drive for him, but I don't see it.
Thorstone, I did read F1 Racing. |

Well, Jag could hire Eddie Irvine, I suppose. He is not bad at development, he's rich, and he can tell lotsa jokes.

But who needs a comedian when you have Jaguar?
Sorry, the joke's a bit old now... maybe it'll be relevant in two or three years time when they've faded away again? |

All I can say is - FAT CHANCE!
Webber is Jaguar's main man. |

If Villeneuve was to go to Jag he would proberbly cost £5m (??), Money that Jag would seem to be unable to afford (If McLaren's £2m buy out clause of Wurz is anything to go by).
That money would be better spent (imo) in the development of the car (as would BAR's wages to Jacques). And after all, why would they want Jacques?, they have Webber who they obviously want to concentrate on as they were so keen to extend his contract. |

Jaguar made the mistake of getting rid of Pizzonia just as he was finding his feet and replacing him with someone inferior who had the backing to buy the seat, or was Webber getting worried that Piozza man was getting too close to his speed?

I feel that Pizzonia wasn't given enough time, but thats F1, but i certainly don't see Wilson as inferior.
As for Webber being worried about Pizzonia, not a chance! Yes, Pizzonia was a rookie, but Webber had more than the measure of him all season. |

They should keep the current drivers, they aren't to expensive and they have experience with the car which right now seems like a reasonable base to build on with a philosophy in design that can run continuously as opposed to the nold way of having radical changes every year to try and keep up. With the seeming good starting point and relative stability, It seems li,ke it would be important to keep drivers who know the car

Long time since wev'e had a JV thread!!
Um...I think Jag will be better off with the 2 drivers they have ,They are both young .Webber is outstanding.Wilson's real test will be Monza because after the Monza testing he no more will have the excuse of not knowing the car. |

As for JV, I think Irvine has a better chance (and would still be a better option). He's having trouble keeping up with Button, Mark would smoke him in a heartbeat. |

Jag need another developer Heidfeld or Wurz would be ideal
Wilson is a fine driver by as I've said before it is just wrong timing IME for him . JV would do a good job except all the cr@p that comes with him and no matter who gets the job they will be a rightful 2nd to Mark . If Justin stays I'am sure a foward movement will be achived as Mark is a great feedback driver but in the big picture its not 04 they are looking at team wise its the 05 car and a driver like Wurz ,Heifeld,JV would be the picks |

Jaguar are no chance of paying for a driver that's past his peak like JV & as for Webber being threatened by Pizzonia, when did Pizzonia ever get close enough to threaten him.

I hope JV get's that drive, but i really doubt it and that's an understatement.
Jaguar have a very competitive lineup already, there's no need to change it. |

To be honest, Jacques is not a team man, and while I jokingly suggested Eddie Irv, I just want to point out that Eddie was fired because he wasn't a team man.
