Jonny Apex should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
EA Sports F1 2002 for PS2: Aaaarrrggghhh!

I have to take this game back. Don't go above 150mph in yellow flag zones or you'll be penalised it says in the rules. So I keep below 150, everyone overtakes me and I still get a stop and go for speeding under yellows or dangerous driving! But they get away with overtaking under yellows!

Nor when you have to pit early for repairs can you adjust the pit strategy. You can only bring the first/only stop planned forward to within one lap of your enforced stop even though the pit crew appear to refill the bloody tank! ie. you go back out thinking you've switched strategy so you won't have to stop again only for the bells and whistles to go off in the cockpit PIT NOW: FUEL "You need to pit this lap".

All I want to do is play the game fair.

F1-2001 is good but i switched the yellows off as you get penilized for overtaking a car that has gone off the track, i thought that they would have improved it for F1-2002, don't think i'll bother buying it then.

Jonny... you're spot on, and several of us have ranted about the IDIOCY of EA's efforts... It really really p*sses me off that they leave such RIDICULOUS flaws in the game, because otherwise it would be great! BUT the yellow flag system is horrific, despite being improved over last year's effort, and the variable weather leaves you with noooooo chance... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!

Take it back...

I always play F1 games from the view, just above the drivers head. You may not think it but the handling seems better if you play it from that view.

The handling is easier from that view, yes, but the odd perspective makes it much harder to judge your speed and the distance between you and the AI cars.

I've noticed this too.

Riding from behind the car is just ridiculous an arcady.
On board above the drivers head is just dandy.

Other than the yellow flags and changable weather conditions (It always rains once per race, best switching weather to dry.) F12001 is the best race sim on the Ps2.

Colin Mcrae 2 is the best race sim on the whole Ps platform.

I agree about the over-car cameras - the only games which ever got them spot-on were F1 and F1 '97 - both featured out-of-car angles which were far higher than the ridiculously low-slung angles of EA and Psygnosis/Sony's efforts...
