DavidStHubbins should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Where's Wesley Barber?

Anybody know what Wesley Barber is up to nowadays? I've been living abroad for quite a while now and am totally out of loop as regards UK single-seater racing.

I did a search on ten-tenths and no hits on his name since 2004. I recall him getting a second wind on what was a strange career (French F3 at 17 and working down to UK FFord), winning UK FFord and then silence.

Anyone?

He won UK FF in 2002, then finished runner-up in USFF2000 in 2003. He then finished 2nd in the Uk FR winter championships and finished 2nd overall again the main championship in 2004, behind Mike Conway and beating Paul di Resta. Since then I have heard nothing of him, shame as he is a quality driver. Would have been good if he had stayed with Comtec and graduated to the WS.

In 2005 he did some races in Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and in the French championship for Comtec.

I have no idea about 2006 though.

I don't think he did anything. I know at one stage Comtec and Westley Barber had hoped to gradute to the Renault World Series in 2005, although Comtec's failure to secure an entry put paid to that, hence the part season in the French and European championships.

Last I heard from the boys at Comtec he had been working in his Dad's fish and chip shop but now has a job in the city and not missing the racing and continual search for funds one bit! Good luck Wes.

Last I saw of him was last August when he dropped in for the Buckmore round of the kart championship I race in. There's a picture of him in action here. He finished up with third quickest race lap, and, unfortunately, the race report is correct when it says that he was pulling away at a second a lap after he re-passed me...
