Tour Britannia Monday 7/09/09

Tour starts on Monday at Silverstone and goes north.
Alec and Fred have done wonders to keep it going and those involved as customers are keeping our fingers crossed hoping its again a success. Its lost a few starters due to Gstaad but this should not detract from event.

Entry list and other details can be found here: http://www.tourbritannia.com/entrylist.htm

Some interesting machinery including a DB4GT Zagato. Not to mention some equally interesting names too. I note my sparring partner from the MGCC event at Silverstone Tim Bryan, is out with his son in the MGB GT V8, that he bought especially for the tour. It does go quite well.

What or who is Gstaad John. I have to be honest and say these events are not for me at the moment"jolly hocky stick brigade" but wish everyone well and hope you all have fun.And John dont go tripping out of your car this year rushing to the bar.

Ooops, forgot to apply for media accreditation. Never mind, I hope to catch up with the event at Rockingham on Tuesday, and then follow it up to Cadwell. Plenty of photo opportunities, there, anyway.

That's a rather interesting Aston, Peter, owned by Chris Scragg. It is not an original Zagato, but it is an original DB4GT (so very desirable, anyway) which is now on it's 3rd body, the Zagato style body being fitted by R S Williams just a few years ago. It's 2nd body was unique and is a story in itself, but I'll save that for another time.

Iain, it's a great event and the competition part of the field are usually really trying!

Seems poor 'regularity' entry but good luck to all. Definitely an event on my 'to do' list and from what I have read about previous years the 'competition' side is anything but a 'tour'..............

All I need is another seat and get the Escort registered & MOt'd! Oh, and maybe change the slicks. On 2nd thoughts, the Gilbern is taxed and MOT'd, has 2 seats and a set of Avons. I'll start saving up now.

Yes please some pics John and anyone else!

Ah, shucks. I can't make it this year. Unless I swing a sickie, Monday...
I may just do that.
Be good to see TB again. It is something different!

If I don't make it, good luck to all. Stay away from the hard things, keep it on the island.

Thanks for the kind words John (Car No.1) and everyone.

The latest entry list is here: http://www.tourbritannia.com/entrylist.htm

Today's news is that Barrie Williams will be driving Charles Reynold's beautiful ex-works Alpine-Renault.

That must be a very late change Fred,he didn't know anything about it yesterday,I spoke to him just before he went off to see his Mum in Bromyard. Best of luck with the Tour,I hear you're off over the Dales this year, best place to hold it! Looks like there will be another entry next year, just need to talk Mike into doing the map's.

I had 5 years following the late great Rob Arthur's road book instructions while at Ralliart, so hopefully havn't lost the knack!

Entry list looks better. Nice to see Jeremy Cooke out in his RSR usually in Masters races.

Well, I've had a great day, first at Rockingham and later at Cadwell. Some lovely cars. JR on excellent form and enjoying himself, SH driving Michael Schryver's Lotus 26R with gusto; good weather, lovely English countryside between the venues. What more can I say. Oh, yes, met up with Colin Stubbs, enjoying the cars and the atmosphere. Apologies to Fred for not saying 'hello' but you seem to have been constantly engaged!

Will put some pics up eventually.
