Alternator för F3 VW Brabham
I am restoring av F3 VW Brabham engine for a Ralt RT30-86. I am missing the alternator. The altornator shall be fitted on the "front" of the crank.
Does anyone know where to find an alternator? I have heard that an alternator from a motorcycle engine maybe is possible to fit? Anyone knows? |

I'm not familiar with these cars but do you know it actually needs an Alternator? Most single-seaters don't have them...

From memory we could go testing and have no problems all day. I actually run a Toyota F3 at the moment and we use a redtop 30 with no battery booster at all and we can run for a full day testing with that. The fuel pump we use is the same as the one we used to use on the brabham vw engine so I doubt you will have any issues as long as you have a good fresh battery . We would then re charge after a day with a trickle charger that we can leave on untill we take the car out again. Hope this helps Benn |

Although you need to remove the Super Oscars. They dont look good on an F3 anyway.

Never had a charging system on my car with a 40 red top, it easily does a 1hr race using electric pump/brake lights/occasional wipers and 21w rear lamp.
When we used to do the Heart foundation charity days at Snetterton it would "die" after 2 hours. The starter is the killer so jump start it. Of course it is best to have some sort of charging system but it doesn't have to be high output and massive, I have seen several small alternators off of Japanese mini tractors/ diggers utilized that will fit in small places. |

I think it is the same alternator as motorbikes used in mid 80´s such as Thriumph and Norton.

I have a F3 Brabham engine. But this has no alternator. It was fitted in a Reynard 883 and includes an electric high pressure fuel pump and fuel injection. No sign of it ever having had one.

F3 VW engine spares
Hi, I think I may have an alternator and control gear from a VW Brabham-Judd engine ex my Reynard 873.
I am at present travelling back from the Dijon meeting. I will look when I get home. I also have the the two stage ignition module for the engine. Best of all I have a new unused VW F3 cylinder head ex Broster if you are interested. Let me know either way. |

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1406142926...84.m1586.l2649 On E-bay now is the perfect alternator for you. Yes, it's mine, the last one I have left but I can get more if required but they will bit a bit more expensive. It's max revs. should not exceed 16000 but you can gear the pulleys to suit. It will produce approx. 45Amps all day long and it weight is 2.5Kgs so that with a 15 or so Red Top, will keep the weight down and power up! PM me for more details if required. I run a similar set-up on my HSCC/HRSR 105E Anglia. Brian |

Thanks for the advice but the modell of alternativ is not the korrekt One that I am searching for . The a lternator shall be fitted direct ön the crank w ithout a pulley . Ihave fond a modell from Lucas used by motorcykel in the 80's like Norton and Triumph . So I will continiue on that track . |
