Bernoldi out, ??????? in...

News from the paddock today at Silverstone is that Enrique Bernoldi will not drive for Arrows in 2002, and his replacement will be announced at Monza.

Well, if Arrows don't like him, it wasn't as if everyone heralded him as the next Senna-or-Prost-or-dare-I-say-it-TGF but will they ever stop replacing people?

The focus at Arrows is Jos Verstappen...Bernoldi was just interested in Bernoldi...Goodbye Mr Bernoldi and do not slam the door on your way out..

I hear PDLR is an option. Him and Jos made a great duo. Re: Bernoldi, he's an average driver, not bad, not great. And we ALL know what happens to average GP drivers: they just fade away into obscurity.....

Bernoldi will have plenty of stories to tell to his grandchildren. Once upon the time, there was race at Monaco blah blah......LOL

Here's a list of names that are possibilities:

Marc Gene
Alex Wurz
Luciano Burti (to make way for Webber at Prost)
Justin Wilson (it'll be the biggest car in f1)
Tomas Enge
Mark Webber (they split on bad terms last year, but with Flav saying he'll do his utmost to get Mark into f1, it is a possibility)
Antonio Pizzonia
Bill Gates

PDLR won't be there after what happened at the end of last season.

Mark has been seen in the Arrows motorhome in Hungary by the dutch TV crew....

Bill Gates

Let's hope he won't bring his own software

Remember what happened to Jos Verstappen in 1996??, and where's Jos driving now?

Two top two runners in F3000, Wilson or Webber, deserve the seat, although while Webber in Australia has received much news lately about a possible F1 drive next year, I've not heard much about Wilson being in F1 next year anywhere. He may be in with a shot.

I think this is more down the fact that Jos hates him and believes he has a god-given right to be number one.

Enrique is being given the boot because he's too close to Verstappen on the track.

As for his replacement, Fisichella and Trulli were rumoured but I don't think it's going to happen due to certain contracts being signed, therefore I reckon Burti will take the seat.

yeah, and we all know jos is only so fast in races because he always does a low fuel strategy.

i wouldn't put pizzonia up for a drive, i reckon the petrobras jnr team is staying put next year to have a shot at the title. justin wilson, however, would be a very good choice. if he goes, watch out for coca cola sponsorship on an arrows near you.....

Jos was moaning Bernoldi didn't used to help him with car's development. May Arrows need deriver with test experience: Zonta, Wurz..

Jos Verstappen and Arrows need a team player...Mr Bernoldi from all accounts was not one of those....

Bella: Jos is faster even if he has the same strategy(it's 12-1 for Jos in the races), in Hockenheim when Bernoldi's car started with 25 kg less fuel than Jos Bernoldi was 4 or 5 places behind Jos after the start and doing slower lap times.....

Bernoldi finished ahead of Jos in Germany.
And I don't know whether it's fair to say that Jos beat Bernoldi in San Marino and Canada.

Jos went from 21 to 15, Bernoldi from 20 to 18/17. That's only 2 or 3 places behind Jos.
And Bernoldi had to start from the dirty side of the grid.

Bernoldi, as a rookie, has beaten Jos on several occasions. Jos has tons of experience. That's why, in my mind, Bernoldi is a better driver than Jos. Bernoldi being dumped is very sad news indeed.

Because Arrows is in a quest to find out who is the slowest paying driver? Somebody should tell them Mazzacane is the man, so they stop their futil search....LOL

Jos was 6th when he retired in Canada, When Enrique had the engine problem he was already far behind Jos...

And Yes, Bernoldi finished ahead of Jos in Germany(that's why I said 12-1 for Jos) but I think that that would'nt have happened if Zonta did'nt crash into Jos.......

I agree in part - I don't think Bernoldi is a better driver than Verstappen, but I think he has fared very well against him for a driver who is only in his first season against someone who has been racing in F1 since 1994. If he does manage to retain his seat for 2002, he'll certainly be giving Mr Verstappen a real run for his money.
