I just hope we get a good race... Not like the 2009 decider, when the guys who put on the show (Dixon and Briscoe), got beaten by Dario (who pootled around boringly saving fuel all race).

Hopefully the DW12 will produce an interesting race on a superspeedway being so damn draggy. I gather they are running the Indy wing package.

Going by Indy, this is definitely going to resemble more the kind of races that CART had at this kind of oval in the late 90s. It won't be as dramatic as those, but it'l come down to who has the draft at the right moment at the end, that's for sure.
It'l be fun to watch. |

Since when have they been using the "world champion" tag?

It started in 2010, since they had races on three continents with the addition of Sao Paolo, to go along with Motegi and the other races. This year, Qingdao was supposed to take care of the three continent requirement for "World Championship" status as set forth by the FIA.

I don't think that FIA allowed them to use the World Champtionship tag to the race.

Drivers reporting from testing that the cars are really loose and light and that the tyres are going to take a beating. So, perhaps a Texas-style tippy-toe towards the end.
Anything could happen. |

I can see RHR winning it and Power finishing in the top 8. Something like that perhaps.

There's drivers from seven nations in the top 10 in the standings. All races are held in the Americas, I know. But their claim of being international is quite correct.

At the height of the CART era AOWR was truly international; sadly the IRL has a long way to go before I think it lay the claim of being a truly international series. |

I think the British F3 Championship has International mentioned in the title somewhere...

Let's say they have an international field.

I don't believe that Indycar are beholden to the FIA. Indycar can 'World' it up all they like and why not?

Residual heat may affect what we see today. Yesterday's high temp according to my in-car thermometer was 114F in the parking lot outside Race Control. I know we are starting later, but we could feel the heat radiating off the metal grandstands even after dark yesterday.
