Plato tests MG!

I hear rumours that our least favourite touring car driver was testing for MG in Dijon recently...

Now I thought he wasn't likely to be getting that drive...?

Guy? Guy ? Help? Please say it isn't so!

Cheers

I don't want to go into what I think of Plato, but Dijon is a fantastic circuit. He would have had a really good time.

But I also thought that he wasn't going to get the MG drive.

Theres an interesting interview in this weeks AutoDistress with JP, where he makes a comment about 'Honda being a contender', and then 'If they commit'. Am I reading to much into this or have Honda approached JP with a seat option??

I too hope MG don't go with JP, altough it is another well know brit for the spare seat at MG.

I think the group opinion of JP is "poor"... let's leave it at that shall we rather than getting into why he felt the need to smash Muller off the track on a regular basis to win the title...
No more anti-JP explanations, it's been covered elsewhere.
Cheers

O.K. agreed no bickering about Plato's 2001 season.

But what do you think will become of him in 02, flying the flag in Europe? or further afield, or back in the UK???

Assuming Plato did drive at Dijon (I cannot admit or deny this news at the moment) he is certainly not the first driver outside the current line up to do a test with MG and this certainly does not mean he will get a drive.
Plato is desperate to land a good drive and will certainly take a pay cut if he comes to MG.
If he arrives it will only be because MG have been unable to secure the driver they really want in the car and talks with him are still on going, If Plato is in talks with MG he may be more the "back-up plan" rather than who they really want.

Regards

Guy

Thanks Guy, we have read 'between the lines' and of course understand the situation a little better.

My source now saying Driven crew were with him at track so might have been related to that rather than MG Race cars...

I also hear that Matt Neal is very optimistic of being in the BTC next year...

Get up off the floor Trace

Rick, doesn't Plato do quite a bit of work for Driven? I hope Matt gets the MG drive personally.

Although JP is a presenter on Driven, I can't really see MG allowing him (the possible opposition) to drive the car.!

Exactly, I still plump for Matt Neal. Not only is he a good driver but he has the charisma to go with it. Dare I say he would also bring some sponsorship which might not go amiss?

Like MG are going to employ someone with a dodgy reputation like Plato! He's been nicked for being drunk and disorderly in Sussex.

Yeah but thats hardly a crime is it? I should know

But, I carn't see Plato gettin the seat, I would think Reid has the number 1 seat there, and the last thing they need is a number 2 that thinks he's a number 1.
