It's hot! Any other painters out there?
On a red hot day like today - indeed this week, I wish I was using oils as the medium on the picture I am working on!
As I started it in acrylics ( I do not like mixing mediums) the paint is half dry as soon as it hits the canvas. Tried using retard gel and flow improver but not much difference. I've killed three brushes already as the acrylic sets hard. Anyone else having problems? |

Soak your brushes in denatured alcohol or Pine Sol to strip away curing acrylics. You need a slower extender to keep things flowing. I know they are popular here in the US because our summer is longer. The acrylics I use usually don't give me any trouble as they take 30 minutes to set up anyway. I have had some that would freeze in the airbrush tip, but I stoppped using that particular brand.
Good luck. |

Thanks KC. Another way to fix dried on acrylics is to place the brush in boiling water and leave them for a while, but this only works if there is minimal cured acrylic and you can only do it once.
A slower extender may be the best option as you say. |
