Hockenheim Support Please!

Just secured a last minute deal to race at Hockenheim this weekend... (sadly not in the Minardi)
Seems His Bernieness has decreed that the spectators are getting restless with no F1 on Suday morning so he invited Renault to ship along 36 of their panel bashing finest. So I'll be flying the Union Flag (on the roof!) and representing the UK in a 15 lap special on the Sunday morning. As usual, ten-tenths are welcome to come along and say hello at any stage.
Cheers
RickP : Clio 89 (this weekend!)

Good luck Rick - show 'em what real racing is about, and this time, try not to get punted off on the first lap

Hmm, the Belgian series I managed to grab 7th last week at Spa, some b*gger broke the drivers window at the 3rd corner but otherwise we were undamaged, so I expect the luck will reverse at Hockenheim! We'll just have to give as good as we get!

First practice was interesting to say the least with no brakes. He reckons 40,000 there with a nice group of Brits who waved every lap.

umm - started off great guns. There was some confusion as to the qualifying times - think he eventually started 9th in class and he was mega chuffed. The car was handling a treat but there was some concern over his tyres but the brakes had been fixed and he was looking forward to a good race.

and he was walloped - first corner - in the gravel!

Not walloped into the gravel... not a lot of that at Hockenheim any more... but tapped sideways into the middle of the pack then T-boned. Guy hit the front right wheel bl**min hard, which got me pointing in the right direction although the car seemed somewhat reticent to take corners after that... checked out all the run-off areas and a gravel trap on my way back to the pits. Abandoned the car and went off on hols!. Cheers for all the support from the guys in the Grandstand at the second turn! RickP

Well, at least you came off better than Kimi after turn 1.

Shame to hear it went so bad for a ten-tenther.
