What we need is a Training Day (Rescue)!

The Midland Region of the BMMC is organising its usual rescue training day on Saturday 21st February 2004 at Donington Park. Invitations are being sent to the crew leaders of those units known to be involved or "local" to the Region but this notice is just in case the message does not get to you or you want to travel from further away. All welcome, with or without your unit.

Booking of a place however is essential. Please contact Bill Butler, 4 The Paddock, Lichfield, Staffordshire, WS14 9BZ. Who you are, contact details, how many of you and whether you are bringing your unit would be useful info.

Sign on 0830 in the Paddock; please note that no further information will be sent out, just turn up.

If anyone without a rescue licence wants to attend please contact me first. (Generally you will be welcome but there are a few things we need to get sorted out first.)

Any questions, pm me.

Regards

Jim

Jim, will you need any "casualties" as in the olden days of the Rescue assessment weekends?

The Thruxton day is different to what Jim is talking about which is a training day for Rescue Crew. The day at Thruxton is for Marshals of any persuasion to come along and 'have a go', build some bridges and get to meet (and generally abuse) the BARC Rescue Crews. We have found in the past that people have a good day and leave with a better idea of what goes on and a better rapport with those of us who live in vans and eat donuts!

Ah now come on - you mean the only time we get to abuse the BARC rescue crews is once a year at a training day now? That's not fair!

Nah but it's the only time we actually set ourselves up for it!

Anyway, I don't need any training on how to abuse rescue units. In fact, there should be a grade for it

It's the only time we see them standing instead of sitting in their cars/wagons!!!!!

But the day is well worth attending, so take this as a recommendation as well.

Makes a change from the rescue crews abusing themselves!

TeleTubby and the boys on the Rescue Unit are in need of LOTS of abuse...............

A typical day for them requires they lay in the back of the Unit (sorry Red Bus) eat Doughnuts and drink Coffee and txt each other

Excuse me but that does mean that the girls in the rescue unit are not in need of abuse? That does not seem to be fair. I think that we will just continue to abuse them ourselves.

Do know if I should say this but most of my crew when introducing my wife to new docs etc. say "this is Tracey & she has slept with all of us on the unit."
If that counts as abuse i want to know who's

Thanks flagwaver - You'll be encouraging my unit to do the same with me (their female crew member!) Luckily I usually let the lads all fall asleep first before I doze off!

Well having let mrs Flagwaver stew over the weekend I suppose I had better quantify my comments.
Yes my wife has slept with all the crew on our unit.
But it's all in the name of motorsport. Being a unit that does a lot of rallies as well as the circuits, we often have to get to stages very early so the crew often end up sleeping on the unit. Hence the statement of sleeping with the crew. Well thats what Mrs Flagwaver tells me.
