I don't know where to post that, and we'll delete it tomorrow... but just in case, try this short movie...

I did not remember Bill Auberlen flying at Petit Le Mans in 1999...

Did you ?

GT1 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
It was 2000 I think and really did a lot to try and get a lot of slack off the GTP by showing that an open top car could do it too.

Thus explaining the chassis rules that are coming about, and also Audi's control of cars, to make sure their engineers are involved in the running.

The video downloaded fine, but my computer gives me the big shrug when it comes to playing it. What program plays a *.ram video?

TIA, Stan

Real Player, or Real One (or whatever it's called nowadays). You can get it free at http://www.real.com/

It's exactly where Dalmas took off.

That was the race where deer kept running across the track during the event ...

Auberlin was much calmer about his "flip" than Dalmas was; Dalmas had not actually realized what had happened until someone from Speed showed it to him during an interview, at which time he came close to collapsing!

Yeah, combination of cresting the hill and ducking out from behind the Raff Lola B2K/10 caused the car to lose all front downforce. Auberlin didn't see anything, 'cause the centrifugal force pushed his head down into the cockpit!

Thanks for the video Fab. Now I've seen video of the Porsche 911 GT1 flip from Petit 1998, one of the Mercedes CLR flips at Le Mans 1999, and the BMW LMR flip from Petit 2000. The common denominator that I have found has been that the flipping car was coming up behind another car. In the case of the GT1 it was approaching (ironically) the Porsche AG entered LMP1/98. The Mercedes CLR was trailing a Toyota GT-One. And the BMW LMR was trailing a LMP car (can't make out which one). Definite adverse factors acting on those cars!
