Race Difference
I was over at formula1.com, and I check out each of the tracks. When I saw Monaco, it's reported race distance was only 260.520 km. I thought that Formula 1 races end their race, usually, on the lap that surpase 305 km. Why is Monaco shorter than the rest? That doesn't seems right.

Because it's such a slow track - the cars take longer to travel a shorter distance.

I counted that last year they would have reached 305 km on the same lap as 2 hours (using Montoya's average speed). Changes in Rascasse made the track faster. And remember also that last year Monaco GP had SC period after Frentzen crashed.

There are the same too, I'd like variety.

Yes, but some shorter and longer races would be good.
*awaits the purists outrage* Some shorter 'spint races' (no fuel stops) would provide some great action, as would a 500klm season finale. |

Well, that is the last time I admit you had a good idea.
BTW If we made the races 24 hours then maybe Jaguar would be closer to what they should be doing |

Hehe - I misread your post (or you changed it)
I thought you disagreed. Would be good to spice things up though. |

I'm all for non-stop races, though I don't know whether they would need to be shorter, certainly not by much anyway!
I always think of Sportscars as the area of motorsport that should have different length races, but it might be interesting to see it in F1. That might be a good way of providing non-stop races for those who are into the wheel-to-wheel action, and longer races for the tacticians. |

When I say shorter, my thinking is a half race on the Saturday, and other on the Sunday.
No tyre stops, no fuel stops, just flat out to the finish. |

Sounds interesting.
How about a sprint on the Saturday (1hr) and a longer one on the Sunday (2hrs), or is that what you mean!! |

I like the idea of a 500km season finale. Good for variety in the lengths of races. I doubt it would happen though, as you could argue it would increase costs.

Why not have a qualification race? It'd decide the positions on Sunday and also give some points towards the championship.
