Pete Howarth should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Thank you, Cadwell 4th July

I would like to personally and on behalf of the BRSCC Northern centre thank everyone for their co-operation by doing duties other than their normal and the efficient handling of all the incidents.
I looked forward to seeing as many of you as possible on the 25th July for our next meeting at Cadwell.

Pete Howarth – Chief Marshal (BRSCC Northern)

Blimey Mr H. that was quick!

Fortunate to get away with such a nice day weather-wise, but some decent racing goes a long way as well.

Minis: fun in any variant
GT Lites: last man standing wins
Jedis: excellent scrapping throughout the field
FWoman: Not as bad as many have made out so far this year
TCars: ban them, ban them now.

Sorry for stopping the first Jedi race, but it was a car on the edge of the inside of park round a blind-ish corner.

I'll let Mr Leedam tell you about the strength of TCars in an impact.

Thanks Pete and the BRSCC for the hard work (& the beer & fiver)

Al.

really enjoyed the day. Thankfully not that much to do (would have needed more bodies if there was).

Sorry that I was unable to stop for a drink - had to get home.

Fiver????????????? Have I missed out on something??????????

BTW Pete - never got that signature you promised (and can't get it on the 25th - I'll be at Croft)

yes I did, didn't win but didn't know what the prize was, or who won.

Well done Alan.

Excellent day.

Que: Is T cars the breeding ground for stock hatch drivers of the future?

Another saloon race yesterday had a few stock hatch moments, but I can't say which one for fear of the thread being banned (see National Club forum). One 'deliberate' turning-in on, and a very near miss for a T-bone, up with us at Park, don't know about the other parts of the circuit.

But yes, Micky, a few more t-cars and it might have got really messy (as opposed to the quite messy race it turned into)

just want to say thanks to you guys for turning out. Had a great weekend at a great track. it was just a pity it didnt rain on sunday!! As for our jedi race that was red flagged, we presumed it was for the oil that had been dropped through the 1st corner. From what I saw, the car that dropped it was parked pretty safe on the inside.

Yes alan them T-cars do bounce well off a marshals post. Scatterd the post abit and us marshals, it's just the way he restarted and cleard off to leave us to pick up the peices

I heard on the commentary about the oil, and then we got the car crawling up the straight, and pulling off on the inside. Where the car stopped was 90% off the edge of the track on the right, where the racing line was to the left. However, given the fact that the car couldn't be moved much further off track because of the banking, and moving it would have meant the one marshal available having his back to traffic on the exit of a blind corner, and so I said I wasn't happy with where it was (given the number of cars we had going in many directions on the damp track at times during the day).

With the oil down as well I was expecting a stop for that on it's own, but the clerks decided to stop it more for the two things happening together rather than one or the other, I believe.

Sorry to do it, because I don't like stopping races especially when theres good racing going on, but given the conditions, and where it was I had to call it. Sorry, 'cos it was a good race.

On the positive side,if anyone gets the chance to marshal at a Jedi race, it is well worth a look at - a full grid of well prepared, equally matched machines giving it their all. Great fun at Croft and Cadwell so far this year.

But Paul, at least the kid in the T-car left us his calling card, the only part of the car that didn't survive the impact, his front indicator!

Those T-cars are b@*&%dy strong.

I'd like to add my thanks to those of Pete above.

To everyone who turned out and especially to those who agreed to do a job they had never done before (and did it well), your job was more difficult than all of mine put together (I stopped counting at six and decided that the Clerk's idea of a pit lane drive through wash and wax was a job too far!).

If you watch the TV footage I swear it wasn't me!!

Thanks again to everyone and here's hoping to see you all on the 25th (if only to take some jobs off me, PLEASE!!!!).

You forgot the valet on long races and with time and motion study it was found that you still had spare time so that a shed could be erected in the pit lane for you to do maintainance for the circuit.

See you on the 25th

won't be there on the 25th (will be elsewhere on that day) but the good news is that I've just about persueded my wife to join us 'on the bank'. Another trainee (I can teach her how to push a brush!), but with the shortage of marshals we need everyone we can get.

I had a great day out there and want to thank the BRSCC for letting this Yankee come out to play on my country's birthday. It was great fun! Jedi's are great.

Pete, I thought the shed was for the bar! As for the circuit maintenance wasn't that the "scene shifting" bit whilst FWs were on their green flag? (I do hope the TV missed me vandalising their sponsor's hoarding). Thanks for the letter, arrived today - nice touch.

Kurt, I am glad you enjoyed the day, it was our pleasure to play host to you and we all hope you will join us again soon.

My thanks as well Kurt. Without you there it would have been very lonely on post 2.

Echo the thoughts about the letter. Mine arrived today and means more than money or freebies.

Well what can I say, a lot of people had a great day out at Cadwell, from the Senior officials to the Novices and that bloke with loads of jobs.
I just hope no one comes up with a series that includes wash and wax pit stops and all the other things that were invented during the course of the day because we would need even more marshals.
Well done everyone
P.S
for those of you who left before the wrist slapping had finished, there a few drivers who will now know what standards are expected, thanks for the reports.

As a mere competitor, actually sole sponsor, mechanic, truckie, cook, caravan hauler etc etc, but I suppose my lad deseres it, a sincere thank you to all you guys for putting on the show. It seemed a bit iffy on numbers for a while and, after last year, we were a bit twitchy as to whether we would get our racing. That we did was down to all of you, so thanks again.

Multitasking, Old Ropey is what modern marshaling has become, so why not give it a try sometime?
Niether do we forget that without you we would have to go back to doing all the jobs we put off to go marshaling.

Flagwaver, I did marshall once, at a Rowrah kart meeting in November. The lad & I think we should do a bit, probably at Knockhill, our nearest track by 200 miles.
Sounds like we are in danger of creating a mutual admiration society, no bad thing methinks.
