Priaulx - New etcc champion

I looks like Andy has won the Etcc championship

It ended up 111 points each with andy winning on 5 wins to 3 over Dirk.

Well done Andy!!! Top effort and well deserved after coming so close last year! Who'd have thought it'd all work out this well way back when Bennett found himself banned for a couple of races and you stepped in for him... SUPERB!

I cannot wait until next year's ETCC - Priaulx, Thompson, Menu, Rydell, Tarquini, amongst overs... superb.

Fantastic! It's a shame about the sloppy scheduling for the climax of the season. If it was on TV, I'd have bunked off work.

Excellent work Andy - it'll be great to see #1 on his car in the first WTCC next season.

Commiserations to Dirk, who's also driven extremely well this season.

Paffett & Button maybe Britain's touted superstars - but Andy's the only one with a major title in his pocket!

Dream result! It's really nice for Andy to end up champion, having been one of those talents who struggled for funding all their careers.

Today the ETCC, next year the WORLD!

Absolutely fantastic. So chuffed. All the more so because I'd written him off after Oschersleben.

Great job done by Priaulx! he is IMO the deserving champion. Hes been unfortunate in previous races being shunted off by the Alfa guys but at last hes come good! We will have 2 champions going into the WTCC championship in 2005. Lets hope one of them can secure the WTCC title too!

Great season from Andy this year, making great use of the BMW and beating an extrememly strong field of opponents. Those who saw him in the BTCC in 2002, and F3 before that, will know how much potential he has. I doubt this'll be his only major title.

Is he definitely in the WTCC next year?

He is contracted to BMW GB for 2005 but remember about the rumours of them moving to the BTCC then - is there any substance left in them yet after both Edenbridges experience and also the fact they never got a GP support race to try their car out?

Well done Andy

I wonder if him and his team will come bring their car to the BTCC in the future?

Congratulations Andy.
Having followed his exploits from his early days on the hills in a 2.8 Hart powered Pilbeam to the 1995 British Hillclimb Championship in a V8 I am pleased to see him do it.

Last time I saw him was when I was working at British GP and he was taking people round Silverstone in a bus. Quickest bus I have seen since the Italian Job,lol.
The man could qualify a milkcart.

Someone put him in an F1 car, now.

Remember - Hillclimbers get it up quicker.

There's no real chance of getting an ETCC-spec BMW competitive in the BTCC due to the weight penalties for rear-wheel drive cars, which is what saw Edenbridge pull out last season. Barring rule changes in that area, I'd say there'll be no BMWs of any description in the BTCC next year.

I think carrying the #1 into the first WTCC is far more important than losing the BTCC really badly!

Priaulx will drive for BMW in the WTCC next year - whether it's with RBM or Schnitzer.
