McConvillie to SCAR

Just confirmed on V8 Superstars, McConvillie is going to be Greg Murphy's team mate for 2006.

Confirms what was written in the 2006 list some months ago....

An V8Superstars, they, as usual, played silly games... Murf suggesting to Mr McConville that they played for the same team... and that Mr Weel confirmed his replacement was on the panel....

Mr Weel retiring at age 26 with grey hair.... Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

I actually thought it was nice that Mr McConville recognised Andrew Jones' contribution to the 4th place at Bathurst also.

Presumably there is some niggle in that squad about the 2nd driver, with Mr McConville offering the throwaway (but still serious) line about not knowing who his teammate was to be for Phillip Island.....

Yeah, I agree, I also thought that was really nice of Cam to mention Andrew's contribution to the 4th place at Bathurst

It was also nice that he thanked Murf for improving their position at Bathurst.

It was in one of the free throw away rags here on the Gold Coast last week or the week before that Cam was to take Weelys seat and quoted Weel as saying that he would like to still do the enduros but not with his team as he wanted Pretty and ? (I forgot who - sorry) to drive again in his second car after the job they did this year. PWR is branching out into more overseas markets and he needs to spend more time on that and developing more products. I remember it was with an ad for PWR stuff at some radiator shop. Damn wish i could find it. The bloody missus has cleaned up my desk again.

Actually not true. Trevor Ashby has had a win in the LRT Commodore, years ago at Amaroo if I remember correctly. Beat Brock, Johnson and the rest......

In any case all the best to Cam in 2006.

Old news mateys, it was in MN four weeks ago. I know this is a free forum, but people really should read the news before claiming "news" of their own!

I know that MN is a different level to AA, but whatever was reported 4 weeks ago was rumour. This thread is suggesting that some sort of announcement (however cryptic) was made. Big difference, and IMHO a perfectly legitimate topic for discussion.

Yes certainly was. Still don't know what went on there. Why didn't anyone press Bradlee as what to happended with Andrew.

Will be interesting to see Cam take it right up to Murph next year.

On Panel Beaters the week of Symmons Plains, the boys were dropping some very unsubtle hints about Cam's future. How he'd be "weely happy" in his new team.
Cam replied by saying he was planning a "super" year next year.

Funny way to confirm the unconfirmed..........

He is a champion in the eyes of his mummy!!!!!

Now he gets to (pretend) run the company. That was always going to be an interesting task given a distinct lack of ability to read or write. I guess he will soon find out a P&L has nothing to do with a Passing Lane (assuming he can spell P&L).

Good luck Cam. The team is very excited about having a driver in the second car.

Look, he was an OK steerer in a one-car, self-funded team kind of way, but hey, the team grew, changed to Holden, became part of HMS and attracted Murphy and well, the landscape changed, A lot.

Natural order of things and so on...

So... if this PWR team was set up for Jr to drive a race car... that Mr Weel Sr could get Holden to basically fund his son's driving career...

... where precisely sits the motivation of the team owner to stay in the sport, now that his son isnt driving for the team that bears his name?

Is the money slushing thru the SuperCheap contract really that enticing? Or is Mr Thorn continuing a prudent approach to ensure what is promised is delivered....
