Silverstone Powernights

Well done to everyone for a cracking meeting, and best of all not a red flag in site. Let's hope the next 2 are as good.

Sounds like a great evening Dave. Unfortunately work commitments meant I didn't finish until nearly 6pm, by which time it was too late.

Yep have got to say that it was a faultless meeting. I have NOTHING to moan about.

Well done to all involved.

I guess the question has to be.... Was there a big crowd?

It certainly deserves one. Anything that makes Motorsport more accessable and appealing to the public should be applauded, just like Renaults free raceday. Hopefully there was plenty of local advertising that worked???

It was a great evening and deserves to do well in the future if they can maintain and build on what was achieved tonight. Short races, good races, minimal delay between races, lots of races, Wow! I really enjoyed it

Well done all involved. A very good start for powernights from what I read.

Now for the simple question, could it be done on Saturdays?
I like the idea of into the evening races, but not when combined with crack of dawn starts.

Nick somebody else's hard won branding as well.
call it 20/20 racing? (2*20min races?) or a guaranteed 20 cars for 20 minutes

Well, it just kind of follows on from how I started watching motor racing back at dear old Inglistion when I were but a lad.

As an early 20-something I had a pathological disease that stopped me getting up before lunchtime at weekends. That and I really could'nt be arsed with watching practice, it was racing me and my mates wanted. That's how we timed our arrival at the circuit, and then we'd head back into town for a social pint or two down Rose Street. At that age we really did'nt care about arriving back home at 2 in the morning.

And I see the same social life style in my own young un's.
Not interested in mornings.

As MSA Steward for the meeting I have to say a big thank you to all the marshals who took part in what, I consider, was a superb evening's entertainment.

We had a bare minimum of marshals to start practice, but by the time racing started I was amazed at just how may orange and black sets of overalls were out there. It gave some marshals a great opportunity to try something new, or to revive skills they had not used for many years.

All I spoke to as I walked round seemed to be enjoying the event - one marshal had even come all the way from Altringcham for the meeting.

Spectators were there "in abundance". I don't know how many paid or how many were on freebies, but they certainly exceeded my expected numbers.

Good luck with the two remaining events - I understand BRSCC have over 100 entries already for Donington next week!

A thank you from Motion Works as well

I don't normally come over to the marshals forum but I would like to add to what Chris has just posted on behalf of Motion Works.

Without the support of the marshals we couldn't have made POWERnights happen, so a big thank you to all of you that gave your time to come and support this new initiative.

Please give us any feedback via the forms in your packs or post your comments here.

What a great Idea it is. Short sharp races with pretty good grids and no hanging around between them.I will be back for next one at Silverstone for sure.
Thankfully a few extra people came before the racing which made things a bit easier. If you can come along to them I recommend you do.

Cant think of anyhing to add to the other comments other than a really friendly meeting with all concerned. I must however add that the work done by assembly and everyone in keeping the meeting running was faultless and beyond belief? Some real lessons to be learnt for future normal meetings. Great decision not stopping a race with only one and a bit laps to go.
Just hope I can arrange to work round my commitments to attend in future.
