On my list . The book I am writing (excuse shameless self publicity -see cool websites sub forum )involves my attending as diverse a range of events as possible and although I have been to Mallory many times since, cripes , F2 races in 1971 , I have never experienced the taste of the Plum Pudding meeting .

We did the event a few years ago and it was -11 C as we arrived in the paddock that morning - wrap up warm! We were going - my brother driving his MX5 and me on spanners as usual but had to withdraw when the gearbox failed at a track day a few days ago. Maybe we'll go and spectate! |

Looks like I am going - question to regulars please. Is the parking on hardstanding (in which case it's in the MX5 ) or grass( the 4x4 Yeti on winter tyres )?

I would imagine that the gravel tracks and parking areas may suffice for firm standing but if not then the overspill will be on grass. I have not been all the way around the outside for a year or so but unless things have changed access the far side of the circuit where where is a lot of gravel based parking and good viewing is quite potholed but worth the trip. To be honest, out of your two options I think I would take the Yeti anyway. However either should be fine. |

Smashing day out , well attended and good entries . But no PA at all , no commentary . Not a problem but I assume the commentator referred to in the programme was 'indisposed ' ?
Enjoyed seeing some exuberant driving - circuit certainly not too grippy - and the sight of a motorbike racer dressed as Batman ...... |

A selection of photos from the car section of the meeting. Bike photos will follow shortly. Excellent day out - shame we could not hear the commentary - it would have helped as the timetable was adjusted after the attempt to dig a trench in front of us at the Esses - sequence in the gallery. Anyone know why the G50 didn't run ? We arrived mid morning so may have missed the cause. Having seen Martin Short in the Dallara at the WHT wonder if he fancies a trip to Mallory next year ... :-) |

Heck of an action sequence with the trench digger!
Richard Thurbin's Ontegrale looks goo though I can't help thinking the off course excursion wasn't necessary to demonstrate his 4-wheel drive. |

I was on post 7, so his off-course excursion happened right in front of me. . . I did casually mention it to him at lunchtime. Not sure why he felt it necessary to do a repeat performance in his second race! |
