It can be done!
I was at the weekends BRSCC meeting which saw its fair share of major incidents which took a long time to sort out medical wise and also the resulting clear-ups. This obviously took a huge chunk out of the timetable and it looked as though it was going to all go pear-shaped! But the BRSCC and crew did a superb job of showing that when a meeting needs to go up a gear to get everything done-it can do so. The last four races had the cars assembled and ready to run in an instant. A quick whizz round by the CofC and the cars where on the greenflag lap straight after the preceding race-it was great to see. So were any lessons learned that afternoon? Do we realy need all the bumbling around waiting to get cars together in such a casual manner between races on an average raceday? The BRSCC showed that races can be run quickly after each other (incidents aside) so maybe we could possibly see more races on a race day or possibly an earlier finish time which would suit many. Either way I'm sure it opened a few eyes and well done to the club and its team of marshals that day (and photographers! )

It is nice to hear that.
I always used to wonder why the plethora of recovery vehicles had to meander around some of the circuits, even though there were no cars to recover. Tom Bisset used to have the right idea at Lydden - run a dummy grid in the assembly area, rack 'em up, and when the track's clear, everyone goes straight out to the real grid in position, 3,2,1, GO! Well done BRSCC. Now reduce your exhorbitant entry fees, and you'll have full grids to go with the clockwork race meetings.... Rob. |

If you want to see a "quickfire" meeting, come to Lydden on September 9th. In the afternoon 30 races are run on the oval in less than four hours. Cars are assembled in grid order waiting to go, before the previous race has finished.

Thats the way to do it! The 750MC have a similar idea where a number of grids are lined-up on the grid from the assembly area and given the lights to start the race straight away...no green flag lap and it seems to work fine. Obviously cars running slicks would nead a warm-up lap but thats all. The need to wait around in a pitlane whilst some clearing-up is done seems stupid (unless its a serious incident clear-up)...get them out of the assembly area and get them all lined-up and ready to commence the warm-up lap as it saves so much time (depending on the circuit that is). Anyway-it was a well run meeting at Mallory!

BRSCC are running the Brands 15th GP Meeting with BARC SE I believe and everything looks good thus far, I have not raced at one of their meets since I did Road Saloons in the 80's and am looking forward to it. They have a packed race card with two 44 car grid TRC races (with reserves, is that a club record?) and the Sebring event so should be real good.
