Triple Eight Race Engineering BF/BA's
My learned colleagues,
I was wondering if any of you may be able to shed some light as to the location and pedigree of any Triple Eight Race Engineering Chassis (raced by 888) from the BA/BF period. Currently I guess I know only the location of these without pedigree 1. BF Owned by Rodney Jane run in DVS by Sonic 2. BF Owned by Sonic run in DVS for Tim Blanchard 3. BF Owned by Gray Mattias (sp?) run last year by Michael Patrizi 4. BF? Owned by Triple F Motorsport and nothing else, I look forward to being schooled by you all! cheers Ross |

Howard Racing have two T8 chassis, being #7 and #8.
They did have a third, being the 2003 build ex Briggs Motorsport chassis (#5). I thought this was taken over by Aaron McGill. It has a yellow cage while the T8 built cars have grey. The Triple 8 chassis numbers follow on from the Briggs chassis numbering. When T8 bought Briggs' operation, they were running JBMS chassis#5 and #6. The first T8 built chassis was #7. Here's my understanding: #7 BA/BF now with Howard Racing #8 BA/BF now with Howard Racing #9 BA/BF the chassis run by Team Kiwi, in its last full year. Does TKR or Kayne Scott own this? #10 BF 2006 Bathurst winner, retained by T8 and leased to David Seiders and Andrew Fisher for Bathurst last year. #11 BF sold to Paul Cruickshank Racing (or the sponsor anyway). Run by Fabian Couthard and then Michael Patrizi last year. Leased to Wayne Miles to run in this weekend's Fujitsu race. #12 BF Bathurst winner in 2007. Sold to Sonic and run by James Moffat last year and Tim Blanchard this year in Fujitsu series. #12A (no chassis#13!!). BF. The chassis sold to the ill fated Intabill team and now owned by the Fiore family.Not raced since early 2009. #14 BF 2008 Bathurst winner. Sold to Sonic and then on to Rod Jane. #15 First FG built and run in early 2009 by Lowndes. Retained by T8. #16 FG built for DJR. #17 FG built for PCR, now owned by the Fiore family and run by Dean in the 2010 series. #18 FG built for DJR #19 FG built for Whincup. Retained by T8. #20 Last FG built for Lowndes. Retained by T8. Then the Commodores begin!! |

This was what was posted on Biante, by poster M-Kart on 24/4/2010. Apparently most info has come from Noonan
"To clarify, here's the history of all the 888 FG's: Chassis 15: Lowndes 888 car for early 2009, then became the 888 team spare when Chassis 20 was completed (Possibly used as the second car for Thompson & Simonsen in the Endurance races). Now Jonathon Webb's 2010 car at 19 DJR. Chassis 16: Steven Johnson DJR car 17 for all of 2009 and up untill now in 2010. Chassis 17: Fabian Coulthard 111 PCR car for all of 2009, now run as car 12 by Dean Fiore in 2010. Chassis 18: James Courtney DJR car 18 for all of 2009 (excluding 2009 AGP, where he drove Denyer's BF while the FG was fixed after Adelaide). Also Courtney's car for all on 2010 so far. Chassis 19: Jamie Whincup car #1 for all of 2009 (championship winning car, may have been rested during endurance races if Chassis 15 was used by Thompson/Simonsen). Used by DJR in 2010 car#18 colours for V8SC season launch in Sydney during Feb 2010, chassis is still with DJR, being used for car #18 panel 'mock-up'. Chassis 20: Lowndes car #888 for second-part of 2009 (may have been rested during endurance races if Chassis 15 was used by Thompson/Simonsen). Presumably still at 888 workshop. Chassis 21: DJR spare FG Chassis, delivered part-way-through 2009, as yet un-raced. As car is being finished/built up, it is being used for car #17 panel 'mock-up'." Webb's is the Lowndes car for early 09 then a spare |

Well the story goes that the VE ride car is actually the finished product from the part-built FG chassis ordered by Mr Marshall's IntaRacing at the beginning of 2009.

Chassis 12 went to Team Intabill now with Fiore Chassis 12A is the current 777 car in the Development Series. other are: Chassis 21 is the DJR spare as mentioned earlier Chassis 22 is the T8 ride car Chassis 23 is Whincup's current Car 1 Chassis 24 is Ingall's current Car 39 (nicknamed Mick by PMM) Chassis 25 is Lowndes' current Car 888 Chassis 26 is Murphy's current Car 51 (nicknamed Nuvolari by PMM) Chassis 27 I think will become the spare 888 chassis Chassis 28 will be the PMM spare chassis. PMM also has Kulwicki and Hercules at their disposal. I believe that they had a chassis under construction (L) in 2009 before the technical alliance with 888. |

[QUOTE=pete60;2681638]
#9 BA/BF the chassis run by Team Kiwi, in its last full year. Does TKR or Kayne Scott own this? The ownership of #009?... Now thats the $385,000.00 question... I heard the original concept was, KS and Co purchase this car,TKR to lease it back for racing...a win win for the team. No outlay for the Fords purchase, and on the face of it, another car for the team to present to fans and discredit some of the 'maliscious lies and inuendoe' pursuing the teams owner... Given that entants have to hold REC privaleges for a main game entry, Simply... it would at the disposal of TKR for use...TKRs entry...an Owner/Driver...bringing good sponsors...' a deal '... Coincidently,useless to its purchaser if he won't toe the line...win win win eh... I gather...TKR having no $$$ in it,and as disputes usually follow these 'deals' no ink dried on any contract involving the teams ownership of this chassis... During his 'personal bankruptcy' saga Mr John with the police he summoned present was observed participatng in a shoutfest with the MIB reposessing the ' TKR owned ' Freightliner at the holden driving centre...the #009 chasis was at that time in the transporters trailer,under instruction it was duly removed and placed in deep storage...on behalf of the Scotts family interests. So I'd say the remnants of #009 run by TKR in its last REC year, must belong to the folks who wrote its and its ancillarys purchase cheques...without doubt. Hence confirmed under the ol 'possession is 9/10ths' rule... IMHO |
