The STIG should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Goodwood FoS 2008

Well, if there is another thread on this, I haven't found it! so...err... here it is!

Who's going then? I've got my passes and tickets today and it appears I'm on Finish 2 (alhtough how this differs from Finish 1 is beyond me). I recognise a lot of names from the allocation sheet already.

Secondly, as this is my first visit please forgive my noobiness but what's the camping like, and how far is it from the camping to the main event area (for the benefit of my parents who are coming with me).

Cheers.

If you read the letter theres a shuttle bus from startline to the marshals camping But its my first too as a marshal. How are you getting 2 lots of free tickets????

Finish 2 is the "reminder" post for some of the drivers who cant seem to slow down after the chequred flag at finish 1

Yeah, but the bus stops running after 7:45, as far as I can work out.

Thanks for that BlackX

They should be in your letter somewhere and you exchange them for your lunch bag at sign on every morning...

If you have not been given any then speak to Dale at sign on and he will help you out...

I don't think anyone's got them. I've told Ernie [Dep chief Marshal] and he says, and he hasn't got them either but he'll sort something out on Monday.

Probably get either another letter or just get them at sign on.

The campsite is at the top of the hill, next to the racecourse (horses), can get a bit windy.
Stig, unfortunately sign on is at the bottom, so get the mini-bus there and back to your post. You'll be lucky at the end of each day, as you'll be able to walk to the campsite, without having to highjack one of the minibuses!
As for your parents, the rally stages are also at the top of the hill, and there's lots to see on the way down to the paddock, at the bottom.
Hope the weather is better this year, it couldn't get much worse that last year. You should be alright as I won't be going, it's just not my cup of tea.

Are you addressing me, old bean? If so, we do not have rain in Wales.

We have liquid sunshine!

Thanks WFM for the info.

Stig: Finish #2 is stuck in a foresty bit with no cover other than overhanging trees. This means it never drizzles, you just get big gobs of water dropping on you all day. Strongly suggest you take some kind of cover to stand under or put your kit under. I took a big free-standing golf umbrella that sticks in the ground. I'm glad I did.

rescue dude is a back marker
I thought the marshals camping was on the move again and would be somewhere different.
Just checked and i think it is not in exactly the same place as last year, can anyone confirm this?

I shall be there handing out the marshals radios once again. Feel free to come along to the car and say hi.

That can't be right, I was working with Trevor Jackson today and he told me that he has his butter knife out making the rolls in his spare time.

He also told me that the Marshals camp site is just that, NO interlopers!!
The camp site IS in a different place lower down and more sheltered, so can only be better.

I got a text on Saturday from a marshal colleague to say she had received her tickets but not got mine yet. She says my name is down for post 1 again, duck callers at the ready boys!

I will be up in Top Paddock as usual. I am guessing that we will be wearing the white overalls again?

Hopefully they will have managed to get the mud out of them from last year!
