Moreno was not picked by the Herdez team this year. Rumour last year(from an interview with Moreno) was that he may find a ride in Australian V8 supercars. I haven't seen any confirmation of this yet.

That was great TV memory for me when he did that clean pass on Gil at the narrow Vancouver track. You saw it from the helicopter cam and the commentators were screaming cause there were important stuff going on down there. Afterwards he cried like a baby hugging his trophy. Then a tard reporter asked him something about if he thought this was a fortunate win for him because he was on the verge of losing contract with Patrick. Emotional latino Moreno just sobbed and yelled: "No! donĀ“t say that! A race driver never think like that." Thats what I remember and that was COOL!

I wish he gets the opportunity to continue his journey in some kind of touring car at least.

Un fortunately Roberto has not turned up here in Australia and I dont think that was ever a serious choice , But i'd love to see it.

I too have no idea what he is up to this year

I figure he'll end up in one of those empty rides in late may in the other series....

He seems to have fallen off the radar in OWRS....

Hell...he wasn't even making th rounds on "Zero's" rosters, was he????

No kidding????

I wasn't aware of that...thanks, Kicking-back....

Personally, I'd love to see him come into another of my passions....sportscar endurance racing....I think he'd do a fine job in series such as ALMS.....

I'm dissapointed he didn't end up finding a drive out here, a guy like Roberto Moreno would attract new fans to your class. I hope that Moreno can find a drive somewhere because he's to good a driver to not be driving anywhere.

I think his time was probably up in CART, but he is a racer and such an enthusiastic one at that. I'd hope he'd end up somewhere interesting. Given the stratagy of the OWRS guys of subsidizing known drivers rather than teams to hire pay drivers and with PG and TK participating in Trans-Am, I'm almost surprised that Moreno isn't racing there.

Sadly, 2003 showed that he can't really cut it at the highest level anymore, and it might be time for him to move into something like Sportscars where he can continue racing competitively.

Dominguez destroyed him at times last year, which shouldn't've happened considering their respective abilities, and I think Ryan can do a much better job.

Don't get me wrong, I've always been a fan of the guy, but he's in his 40s now and no longer seemst o have it.

not to mention walking next to me on my way to my seat at Long Beach today. I squinted, and realized the small peppy man next to me in a racing suit was roberto. I got shy and didn't say hi

I saw on SPEED that Moreno was taking Tom Cruise for a ride in the two-seater. Moreno has to be good a good rep. for Champ Car.

I don't understand. When older guys who aren't competitive anymore retire from ChampCars, they're a sad loss. When guys like Al Jr, Buhl and Herta (all younger than Roberto, and with much more NA heritage) race in the other series, they're seen as has-beens. When ChampCar frontrunners in their early 30s go to the IRL, they're seen as joing a Retirement League. Confused?

A Brazilian friend told me that Moreno has in fact retired from competition, and is now working as a test driver for Ford engine development programmes.

Hello, Cybersdorf! (long time, huh?)

Does your friend know whether Moreno has signed a contract? I know Moreno was negotiating with Ford (he would be a Cosworth employee), but I lost track of this subject.

Cheers,

Muzza
