Recently, there has been a lot of talk about moving between F1 and CART. Some drivers are successful moving from lower levels to F1 while others are less successful.
What do you fans think about the theory (comment??) that CART drivers can be more "rough" with their cars in terms of driving styles because the cars are more forgiving while F1 drivers have to be more smooth b/c their cars are less forgiving? Agree or disagree? As a result, a rough driver (say Zanardi) will likely not do well in smooth driving F1? While smooth drivers brought up in Europe may have an advantage over their rough driving CART counterparts when they come to race in the US. Whatcha think? A similiar discussion has already been started at Indy section in forum if you're interested. |

This is how I see it
Zanardi, Rough-not good in F1/ good in CART Villeneuve, Smooth-very good in F1/ good in CART Mika H, Very smooth-very good in F1 Juan Montoya, Rough-very good in CART/good when tested in F1 Champ cars are more forgiving, because they have bigger contact patches more grip, but because of the grooved tires F1 cars don't have the grip needed to bring the car back, unless your M Schumacher. Does anyone know if Montoya tested grooved tired F1 cars? |

Jacques smooth in F1!! Are you kidding? I think he has been driving very "rough" since in '98 in that crappy Williams and now with that BAR thing.
