DJR goes wet and wild at testing

Some of the press release from www.djr.com.au

Quote:
In incredibly wet conditions, V8 Supercar Championship Series driver Steve Johnson was steering the #17 FirstRock BA alongside young gun Will Davison in the #18 V8 Telecom BA.
And looks like they are going to use the 8 spoke Triple 8 invented rims

It makes an amazing difference seeing the cars out on the track, perhaps the low light conditions due to the weather make the colours softer.
I must admit, what looked hideous at the livery release looks very very good on the track, will be interesting to see come race day.

F J Nedos should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Maybe I am in the minority here, but the wheels look like they could have been lifted off a bloody mid 90's camry and the paint job looks reminiscent of Brisbane taxis. Last years look was much better... Maybe they needed the 5 spoke rims painted in either black or the orange/red colour. Make it look a bit more integrated than what it looks like now - an afterthought.

Still, like all V8 supercars, they probably look better in the flesh than in pics.

Just my two cents worth.

Not sure where the 888 invention comes from. 888, DJR and i think Perkins have been Speedline wheel users. Speedline is imported by Autotek in Australia. Speedline is no longer and Autotek have made their own forged alumimium wheels which come in 5 and 8 spoke. They were designed and "invented" by Autotek and interesting to note the above mentioned teams have all used these new A-Tek wheels, 888 and Perkins in 05 and DJR now in 06.

BRING BACK SHINY SILVER AND GOLD ALLOY WHEELS!
yes im shouting! Im holding my own protest march.
I think these 8 spokers are better then the 5 spokes, but I just find painted wheels leave me cold, be they colour, black white or grey.
I love old fashioned, shiny metal wheels, chrome, alloy gold and silver finish.
I think they still use em on Indy-car or CART.
Love to see em on some v8s or f1.

Like the ones dick johnson had on his sierras when he first went to them? Or the ones after that, ie the ones he had on the car when he should have won bathurst in 92?

The '92 Sierras were one of the best looking cars in he ATCC. The gold wheels set it off very nicely. The 2006 scheme actually looks pretty tidy. It's amazing what change a set of wheels can make. When I first saw the scheme with black wheels it did not grab me at all really. This is a much better look.

I'm sure the go is more important than the show however...

I really like the new look, especially with the 888 wheels on them. Looks great, just need bigger pics to see it better.
