PS2 I-link compatibility nightmare for GT4 night!

So I brought my later (smaller version) PS2 over to my mates with my shiny new i-link cable and an old 28" crt. And guess what? I cant find the I-link port on the newer PS2!!! Its easy to find on the old one, but we cant find it on the new smaller one (the one with the external power supply) - did Sony drop it or does it need an adapter to go into another port??

The reallying annoying thing is I have an old bigger PS2 in the cupboard soemwhere at home... but its snowing and homes too far to get to and back not to put a huge whole in the evening.. Grrr!

Anyone confirm the newer ps2s havent got an i-link? Looks like we will have to take turns on an enduro then!
