Nikola should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Gerhard Mitter - 1966 Hill Climb European Championship

Hi Fans,
as a big fan of Gerhard Mitter and Hil Climb Champioship, let me to make a couple of question:
- since August 1965. Gerhard Mitter drove Ollon-Villars Spyder (chassis
906-010, with spyder-body)
- in 1966. G.Mitter drove also a 906-010, but with coupe-body: was this
the same car as 1965, only with differents bodies?
- is correct that on Trento-Bondone 1966. Hans Herrmann drove yet a prototype-910 (not 906)?
- on two races of end the season 1966. (Freiburg-Schauinsland and Sierre Montana Crans) Gerhard Mitter also drove 910 (not Ollon-Villars Spyder)?
- on the last race 1966. (Gaisberg) G.Mitter was again on 906-010, because he destoyed in practice his new 910?

Many. many thanks for answers and best regards,
Nikola (Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro, ex-Yugoslavia)

The 910 is used in some hill climbs:

Do you know the book Porsche in Motorsport: The first 50 years by Peter Morgan? In that book there's a small amount of info about the Porsches in the hill climb championship. If you want I can search in that book for some answers.

Oh, yu are very kind...many thanks...I have this book and in meantime
I found answers to my doubts: my suppositions from my mail of 10.August are correct:
In 1966 was obligation to have coupe-body, and so Mitter used in 1966. the same car as after August 1965. (Ollon Villars, 906-010), but with coupe-body
(very similar to 906). Porsche 910 became the name ("910") from this chassis-number (906-010), and so came the name "907" after "910"......
Best wishies from Belgrade,
Nikola

Was the spyder of Mitter at the Ollon-Villars hill-climb in August '65 official a 906? I ask this because according Peter Morgan's book (page 70) the 906 (or Carrera 6) was developed during the winter of '65-'66 and for the first time used at the Daytona 24 Hours in '66.

So I conclude the Ollon-Villars spyder was just a prototype and Porsche used (parts of) this car to develop the 906. Is this right?

No, no, Ollon-Villars-Spyder (906-010) was only on Spyder (906 is sign
for 904 with 6 - or 8 - cylinder). It is situation since August 1965.
But, in 1966. coupe-body was obligation for hill climb, and so coupe-body
on chassis 906-010 (with many parts of Lotus F1!!!) was very similar to
906...906 was a "sport-car" (52 exemplares) - group 4 - and Ollon-Villars
is only a prototyp. A certain confusion is born with nomination 906, but it
were two different reason to give this numbers to the car - Ollon Villars
is a Bergspyder 904 with 6 (8) cylinder, and 906 is a "production car".
Good night,
Nikola

Sorry, I must make correction: only your first sentnce is not correct:
Was the spyder of Mitter at the Ollon-Villars hill-climb in August '65 official a 906? - this is not correct, but other:..."the 906 (or Carrera 6) was developed during the winter of '65-'66 and for the first time used at the Daytona 24 Hours in '66.
So I conclude the Ollon-Villars spyder was just a prototype and Porsche used (parts of) this car to develop the 906. Is this right?"....this is O.K.
All the best,
Nikola
