JEB has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
BRDC Golden Helmet - Kirkistown

The second-running of the BRDC Golden Helmet takes place at Kirkistown on Saturday May 27th.

The British Racing Drivers' Club hope that support will be strong for this event, kindly hosted this year at Kirkistown by the 500 MRCI.

If you are planning to race, or would like further information, please contact me at: James.Beckett@brdc.co.uk

Please contribute to this thread, and also look at www.ff1600.co.uk and www.brdc.co.uk for all the latest BRDC Golden Helmet news.

SCOBER11 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
James, both SI and NI rounds on at mondello this weekend so we should get a head count of who is going up to compete (as it is also a SI round in Kirk that same weekend) should get a good grid from over here,oh by the way this is Ireland we generally don't enter anything till the week before

I've dug out the race entry form for the Golden Helmet from the 500MRCI. The dates quoted on it are 26th and 27th May. Are there qualification races on the Friday or just testing as per a normal Kirkistown meeting?

What is the entry fee and is the testing fee waived for visiting drivers from the mainland? I think I read this on another thread somewhere - Or maybe another website or did I dream it?

I've booked the 26th off work now JEB so if you could answer these queries it would be a big help.

Cheers

Lee - I think the timetable will work like other Kirkistown meetings, testing and qualifying on the Friday. Check with Richard at the circuit - he will be able to give you full details I am sure.

I have been known to do the occassional work
I think it disagrees with me though

"Know the TOE"

Are you coming over to play at Kirky? or perhaps watch? or is FF1600 beneath you now?

I hear it is fixed now - I'm looking forward to seeing him drag it to a podium finish at Donny. The skills gained racing in FF1600 should stand him in good stead....Just hope he retains them

James the ferry is booked. I've left a message on the answer phone at the circuit to find out how much the entry fee is to the mainland entrants. I'll guess i'll see you there.

JD are you playing?

Anyone else from the mainland? It's a great circuit and superb atmosphere it's even better AFTER the racing when we hit the bar!!!!! ....I don't mean Robert. ......Although it is named after him.

I believe he netted two podiums today, one on the top step and one on the bottom step. Well done Chris

Hugh Robertson indicated that he planned to do the Golden Helmet with assistance from Morgan Dempsey, so (unless Hugh's work commitments have intervened) that would make two from the mainland...

There should be more than enough competitive Southern/Northern Irish drivers on hand to make it a spectacular event regardless of what the English do, surely?

As I have said before - I know it ios a difficult weekend for all, but it would be good if a few could make the trip over. Richard at Kirkistown has been very supportive of the Golden Helmet moving to Northern Ireland for 2005.

I am sure the entry, however large, will provide great action all round. The Golden Helmet is certainly something worth winning !

It is not too late to enter. Please contact Richard at Kirkistown or me at the BRDC as soon as possible.

Thanks for the kind comments James. In fact I think we'll have a pretty good meeting with two heats and a final for the 'casque d'or'.
All I need to arrange now is the weather.
I would also welcome a phone call from Lee as I need to check a few details. Unfortunately the high tech e-mailed entry form is a bit too rich a diet for the circuit computer which feels it will take 11 hours to download !

Great days racing at Kirkistown on Saturday. And what about Noel Dunne's drive in the final?? Fantastic stuff!!
Anyone know why Paul Dagg didn't get to the grid for the final??

I believe he had some ominous sounding noises coming from his engine, so pulled out rather than cause damage

Confirmed,

I shared his awning. The car sounded great after winning his heat, but when he fired it back up there was a definate knocking noise from it. He did the right thing by pulling out. He's a great guy and I was gutted forr him.

If you read this Paul, thanks for sharing your awning with me, and I hope you find the noise is just something of nothing.

Well done to Noel, great drive.
