Bit presumptuous of Audi isn't it?
I've just checked now with 2 hours left of the Le Mans 24 Hours and the Audi #1 car is in third.
Just noticed this ad banner on another motorsport website which I found amusing! http://www.ianroke.co.uk/B54626EB-7F...F306BB1E17.swf Make sure you watch it all the way through. |

haha, one lol'd a bit at that, probably a fake, but if it is Audi, bonus arrogance points for them.

I wish I had saved the actual URL of the swf file when I downloaded it.
It actually came off the doubleclick domain and I think they only show paid ads. I moved it to another location because I was sure they would remove it quite quickly. |

What a poor quality 'advert'. A new kind of spam?

The quality is poor because your browser will have made it full screen. The advert is supposed to be your standard 300x250 so it will only show the frame.
Try http://www.ianroke.co.uk/ad.htm for an example of how the advert would have looked on the page. |

I doubt that's real, it's pretty well done for a fake though. It if it indeed is a real Audi ad, they´re far more arrogant as I´ve ever thought.
Maybe next year boys...if Peugeot isn't coming |

as it was said in the chatroom yesterday this is no arrogance at all. everyone with chances of a win prepares to present this win in one way or another. similar to prepared winner shirts in cup finals and stuff.
It should be way more concerning for Audi that it leaked to the public though. But then such gems usually get pretty expensive and nice collector items in time |

Indeed. Reminds me of the Michael Schumacher World Champion hats that were made before the finales of 1997 AND 1998 - took until the 3rd time in 2000 for them to learn, and that time he won so they didn't have any

With these ads trafficked with doubleclick and other big ad trafficking programs you can set up the campaign to switch on, or off etc, at a certain time/date. I can see how they would want to set up the campaign in advance. The person doing the job obviously didn't set it to switch on at 1500 14/06/2009

Hi everyone,
This is Audi UK. Firstly, we’d like to take the opportunity to congratulate Peugeot on winning with the 908 HDi FAP. They drove a great race. We also felt it appropriate to respond to you all with an explanation regarding our Le Mans ad. We had obviously hoped to win Le Mans in 2009, and had prepared an advertising campaign incase we did. Alas, it was destined never to see the light of day… or so we thought. A supplier inadvertantly posted the ad, even before the race had finished. We would like to apologise to everyone who has seen it and reassure you that it was due to human error rather than any over-confidence on our part. Best regards, Audi UK |

With Peugeot confirming they'll be at PLM/LS and Audi looking more likely, what are the chances we might see the Lola Astons over here for them???
I'd LOVE to see the Lola Aston and Acura battling it out the final 2 races! |

If this post is genuinely from Audi - then cudos to them for taking the time to hunt down this thread (somehow, I can't imagine an F1 team bothering) Quote:
as respectable as the Le Mans result was, it isn't going to add much value to the car - it needs a blue riband podium if not win; so on that basis I would say that a USA (or maybe far east) holiday may be on the cards. |

I see from DSC that Peugeot did the same thing. It was OK for them as they won the race, although all the ads in the following days papers showed the wrong car; the French crewed car was the one in the pics.

Really? The one ad I seen last week in our infamous 'Bild'-Zeitung shows the winning #9 Peugeot

Apparently the ads for the Monday used a pic of the no.9 car from Spa. Not seen it myself.

Yes the Peugeot ad was from the LMS but 99.9% of the punters wouldn't have had any idea

I guess the PR dept and Ad Co wanted an existing image of a 908 so they could just run with it? 99% of the world wouldn't know it was the wrong car at the wrong race!
Audi UK, thanks for your clarification. Pretty much as above, only somebody jumped the gun. |

I have just reviewed bits of my tv captures and am pretty confident that this winner ad here was not taken at Spa. However, here is the ad:

Damn! We were 200 yards apart, and I couldn't find you. Damn Mobile Phone Companies lack of speed transferring numbers!
