HRTs enduro drivers (Confirmed)

Open-wheeler star Briscoe joins HRT for enduros
February 10, 2006

The Holden Racing Team has pulled off the recruiting coup of the V8 Supercar Series season, luring Formula 1 test driver and Indy Racing League star Ryan Briscoe to drive in the Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000 enduro races later this year.

Sydney-born Briscoe, 24, will drive in the second HRT Commodore VZ alongside versatile veteran Jim Richards, who has announced he will once again drive for Team Red.

- Another interesting pairing.....

Out of interest - as this appears to be a direct 'steal' from someones printed article - what is the source?

Right one year Courtney next year Briscoe... totally unpredictable eh? Boring.

Anyone Briscoe should run around in Champcar for Craig Gore even for the comparitively unexceptional Walker Racing team hopefully before he winds up driving V8 dinasours around full time.

The thought of Ryan Briscoe in a V8Supercar is one of the most disappointing thoughts of my years following motorsport.

I'm with you mac. A mediocre out come and certainly not a step in the right direction in my opinion.

Right up there with Courtney..... I guess at the end ot te day the drivers accept the gig so......

Like him or not, it does make you admire Webber and his singular focus on what he wanted.

What is so wrong with driving a Supercar. Martin Brundle drove for TWR in the ETTC
and still went on to F1. Jonathon Palmer did rallycross. He is only doing the enduro's
it is not like he has left his OS ambitions to come and do Supercars full time.

Not to mention Gerhard Berger competing in his BMW tin top at the mountain. I think it is great for HRT and the series that they can attract such talent.

I would if Briscoe will be stolen from right under Skaifes nose and drive for a top FORD team.

Yep, there's definitely an element of the green-eyed monster (not the ex-Lowndes car, either!) about our Ford followers this morning, here and on other forums (waves at V8 Central).

All their teams can do is keep on poaching Holden's talent, while Holden's factory team is once again out there attracting the best talent to this series.

Exept Mr Webber he has always stated that F1 comes first then who know after that, and he stuck to his guns.

Good news for the red army, but not the most fanstic news, but lets see what Aussie Bernie & his v$supertaxi PR spin kings will put on it.

Nope, no jealousy at all from this ford fan. They need all the help they can get. Besides, he has hardly set the world on fire in the last year or so.

Here’s one for some of you if your not happy about Briscoe been the big news stop B*tching and moaning about it and simply don't post in this topic *gasp*

I think it's great that another young Aussie international is coming home to have a shot at the Great Race.
Good Luck to Ryan for the Enduros

Last time a poll was held here that i can recall, there was a fairly even split of ford and holden supporters.
And i am sure HRT hold their share of holden supporters here like they do at the tracks.

Like it or not, HRT fell off the pedestal they were on a few years ago, and people in forums have opnions on if it is a good or bad thing.

Kudos on your team passion, your attitude leaves room for improvement though.

I was referring to RotorFan's post about V8Central, not this site. I have nothing against Ford or their fans. I simply get tired of the ones who continually make negative remarks about HRT/Holden/Skaife/HSV etc, for no reason. These are the people who need to change their attitude, not me.

I did not intend to offend you, so if I did I'm sorry. Also, you are right, I was off topic, and for that I apologize as well.

Last year was tough for Briscoe, but I think a lot of that is down to the fact that prior to last year he had no oval racing experience. Road racing is his roots, and I'm sure he will be an excellent addition to HRT for the enduros. He was very impressive on his way to winning the Formula 3 Euro Series in 2003, and was impressive in a recent test for the Toyota F1 team, as well as a recent Champ Car test.

The Aussie A1GP team are desperate to get him a third car - Surprise Suprise they are stuggling to find the funding to do it...he also was testing with a Champ Car team.

Coming back would be great for HRT but sad that someone with so much tallent wont make it cause he dosnt have the $$ that less tallented drivers do.

Its too common in Aus though - tallented Aussie Drivers/Riders not having the $$$$ to make their dream into reality.

HUGE Kudos to guys like Webber, Atkinson, Vermeulen and Stoner for making it regardless
