Any reason why the corners mentioned in previous posts are generally the slowest corner at each track !?!
Does not always make them best for photography, been shooting for 35 years and although I do shoot from the slow corners does not always convey the action and energy involved. Although I suppose that by being trackside at all the circuits does give me an advantage when it comes to choosing where to shoot from as I am allowed access to places the general public cannot. |

All fast corners for me have to much fencing in the way to get any form of decent shot. This is because 90% of my photos are taken within general admission.
However, if you want a fast shot then the first corner in Valencia is one of the best for me: http://www.forzaphoto.co.uk/2005/for...DSC_0131B.html Alex |

Nice shot Alex, got the brake discs glowing nicely. As I said I am fortunate that I can get trackside now. When I had to shoot from public areas, during the 1970's , debris fences, gravel traps etc did not exist, and you could get quite close without any hinderance.

I'm fortunate to be trackside too at most events I attend, but even then I still take certain shots from the spectator areas. At many circuits you can re-create the 'pro' shots by just being creative, that's what I had to do when I started. The trouble is, once you get used to trackside access, it's difficult to get shots you are truly happy with. I gave up at Le Mans last year because I couldn't get clear shots.

Donington:
http://www.adamashmore.co.uk/racing/...ton%20Park.jpg (sorry small and pants for internet) This is a good place as you can see other parts of the circuit in the background. Providing you can see over the fencing. I find standing on the top of a car helps! Bruntingthorpe is rubbish for photos (apart from for Renault trucks!) because it is so flat. Although if you make an effort you can have some planes in the background. |

Mallory, from specator areas :
Hairpin : http://www.mdh-photography.co.uk/Gal...s/photo19.html First corner : http://www.mdh-photography.co.uk/Gal...os/photo4.html Chicane (if bikes are your thing) : http://www.mdh-photography.co.uk/Gal...s/photo49.html But at Mallory you can get a decent shot just about anywhere. |

St Mary's at Goodwood has to be one of my fav's, and the twists before heading up the mountain at Cadwell is great. Can't post images as I'm struggling to get into the 20th centuary, never mind the 21st...
Although Silverstone is not in the same league as most circuits in this department, I'm quite chuffed with some of my pics from the entry into Maggots, especially during wet GP sessions, and from the infield at Vale and Abbey - good impression of speed as the cars brake with stands in the background. From the top of the Bridge enclosure you can get some good panning shots with blurred objects in the background that show off this dramatic corner well, and shoot above the fencing. Nothing beats resting on the fence at any corner around Goodwood for me though. |

"Best" is always very subjective. It depends on what equipment you have and what effect you are trying to achieve.
Druids @ Brands is good for a head-on shot but you need to be tall enough to peek over the fence. http://www.redshoes-archive.com/info.php?ID=11856 Devil's Elbow @ Mallory is good for a wide angle, slow shutter speed pan but you need quick reactions. http://www.redshoes-archive.com/info.php?ID=10930 I'd second Mike's comment about Mallory being good at almost every corner. |

Because its such a short circuit though Mallory is somewhat limited and come the afternoon when the racing starts shooting from the outside of the Esses or back down that direction from the Elbow is a bot rubbish because of the position of the sun.
Personally my favourite has to be the full circuit at Oulton Park...Shell and the outside of Lodge being excellent for evocative shots |

Paddock Bend 10 or 15 years ago must be the best-(With media pass!). In those days the barrier was right on the edge of the circuit with about 4 foot of run-off. You could get great head-on start shots and the shunts into Paddock-which were rife in those days. Only problem you had was beng able to duck quickly enough behind the barrier when the Formula First's slammed in at great speed and often as well. Had a FF1600 land next to me on the bank as well one year during the festival which got the heart pumping a bit! Paddock is still one of the best in my mind.

10 or 15 years ago Baz we where both a lot younger, lighter and fitter. I am now quite glad of the gravel trap as I don't have to duck or run so much. Still a great corner though.

Both these are along the straightish bit after the 'Mountain' in front of the cafe/bar, unsure of the name of the corners http://www.mgcars.org.uk/mgoc/emg/im...er_leonard.jpg http://dspace.dial.pipex.com/mg.maes..._kerb_jump.jpg |
