Bernies V8's 2016 Calender

Dates for Bernies V8s 2016 in association with the 750 Motor Club are looking good, especially the two back to back specialist events at Brands Hatch and Rockingham:

7th May - Silverstone National
11/12 June - Speedfest at Brands Hatch
2/3rd July Rockingham Cars & Stripes
16/17 July Anglesey
20/21 August Silverstone International
1/2 October - Donington GP

The race at Rockingham will not now be on the full Oval as originally planned as it was becoming impractical and expensive with the MSA's rules requiring training, a special test and licence to run on the full oval so is now to be on a brand new layout similar to the Daytona road race course utilising two full banked corners then down to a Bus Stop corner on the infield to slow the pack down, sounds interesting.

Its also extremely good value with 3 x 20 minute races and a 20 minute qualification session for under £400 which can probably be shared with a 2nd driver (to be confirmed) and works out at just £3.29 a minute track time a bargain in this day and age! The first race will be gridded by qualification positions, the 2nd on the 1st race results and the last a reverse grid based on results. This could become a very interesting and exciting meeting please try to support this venture either by entering or spectating!

Of course......For those of us in the North, virtually every circuit means a trek....for me only Oulton is less than 100 miles away. CSCC have really starred for us this year. My series have been given the chance to use Brands GP - but its the same date as the rest of CSCC are doing Anglesey.....on top of that they've dropped my series for Oulton, as its October date gives too little daylight hours for all series to run.

For me Anglesey is 4 plus hours when towing But I will be making the trek. Fabulous venue. Apart from Croft every other track is getting on for a 4-5 Hr drive…

Makes me wish my TR7 V8 was rebuilt - think I'd be tempted to go and race with Bernie next year instead of the usual Future Classics, where the offerings for next year (if you're a northerner) are pretty poor.

Bernie's offerings, on the other hand, look quite appealing, with the race on the Silverstone International layout plus Anglesey, Donington GP and something different to try at Rockingham - and all of those less than 200 miles away for me.

Sadly, with the best will in the world (short of a lottery win at least!), I can't see any way the TR will be rebuilt in time for next year.

Only managed to actually get to race in Bernie's V8s once, before I totalled the TR at Mallory - but I really enjoyed the experience, no doubt helped by the fact that I won the class!

The best circuit in the country and well worth the trip, as long as you have decent track time when you get there.

They would be daft not to have them. The grid, the noise and variation of the combined SR&GT/Bernies V8 group is a real winner and helps draw the crowds. Luvverly

Just need to sort out the noise regs. Its a joke when 90% of the spectators cars are louder than the race cars.
