You gotta love that podium
Did any one notice the new podium that they were using at the US GP? They lifted the winning car up high so it was in shot during the ceremony! No dropping the champagne bottle off and onto you car now!

That's a common practice in Nascar, to have the winning driver park below the podium.

I think they should have more cooler podiums... Monza's was also really cool... allowed the crowd to get close...

I think they should let the crowd get close all weekend, like with Cart or Nascar, but that just wouldn't be F1 now would it...

I thought the whole thing was a great show, in terms not only of the podium but also the overall presentation and coverage, especially the camera focusing on Michael as he drove. More evidence that America can put on some good shows. I'm surprised DC didn't intentionally soak the winning car though.

Let the 'poor' people near the teams... Bernie would be able to smell the lack of 2 helicopters each... LOL!... ;-)

This from the land of the Embroidered Tea Cosie. Sheesh. BTW, spanner, if you used the Queen's English correctly, "americans" (sic) should have been capitalised. |

HAR HAR HAR Eero!! (tea cosie bit)
As much as I sympathise, there was an aspect of showmanship with the car going up that did have an Academy Awards song and dance routine look to it. and I too thought that it would have been hilarious if the red car had rolled backwards off the lift, then RB's goofy routine would have made sense (just why does he do that, IVe got nothing against acting goofy , just wondering what the inside joke is between him and someone) and Boots, while the DC comment was funny, this is a F! topic, give it a rest will ya. |

DC *did* intentionally soak the winning car! I thought it was very funny -- Michael was spraying Rubens in the mouth (VERY symbolic) while David was over annointing the Ferrari with Mumms!

I thought it was cool. Monza and Indy take the joint prize for podiums. I don't like Tony George, but that looked pretty smart.

Apparently they had to explain to many people in the crowd why the 'Stars and Stripes' wasn't played as the platform rose.
