front wings
The 2001 aero rules pretty much limit front wings. I wonder if it would be possible for a team to attach the wing to the nose cone with another pair of wings at an anhedral angle attached at the endplates. The Benetton attaches its front wing with angled plates and a team could argue that as the concept of a front wing on stalks is accepted the primary function of the extra wing is to support the main wing and not to produce down force.
Of coures if Ferrari diod this it would be OK but anyone else it would be banned! (if they had put a fan on the Lotus 88 and painted it red and built it it in France it would have been legal!) Heres to the TGP series and BOSS where you can watch F1 for a tenner. Nick |

There are limits to where wings are allowed to go. I'd say this would be partly outside of that area. This is why Arrows and Jordan had those stupid looking wings where they did.

I have one question about the front wing. For the monaco's race the ferrari front wing had three profiles. They have in fact built a 'hypersustentateur' (sorry but I don't know the english word)profile. I wonder why such a solution has never be done before in formula one. Why ,if there is no limit in the number of profile in the fore wing, have teams only done fore wing with two profiles?

I have to say though that its doubtful that this approach would give much more downforce.
No other team that weekend went doen that road. Prost used a sort of a similar version with a wing similar to that seen tested by Ferrari at Malaysia earlier in the year. Niall |

I think it is really helpful:it is in fact the same way as in plane when they whant lift with slow speed for landing . In fact it gives more enegy to the limit layer and so they can give an higher incline of the wing. it should be better than squares and the end of the wing. This configuration can only be use for slowest race with a lot of downforce.
