Minicross424 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The path to Nascar (from the uk??!!)

Ok so im interested in peoples point of view from both sides of the water on this.
Lets say you have a young son or daughter whos aim is to reach Nascar.
Where would you begin and at what stage would you go to the states?
Its not like there is a clear path as there is to F1 or Touring cars.
How I would see it:
UK Mini Sprints, Run at Arena Essex by RTS (Ages 6 to 12)
UK Ministox or Autograss (Both effectly Rover Minis up to 16 years of age)
UK Oval Legends racing (Same as Legends in the States)
Late Models as run in Europe (See Latemodel.eu)
Nascar Trucks?
Nationwide?
Sprint?

What do you think?

Unfortunately I think it requires you to achieve superstardom in another high profile category to get the sponsors interested. And even then...

Both of you are correct...

A down and dirty US path:
Carts
Bandoleros
Legends
Late Models
Regional Late Models
National Touring, ASA Hooters Pro Cup? Etc
Trucks
NW
Cup

Used to be able to replace Late Models with Sprint Cars, but haven't seen to many small time open wheelers graduate to the "big 3". This, of course, is extremely loose and the it's been going for me of late, probably wrong.

Of course, ridiculous amounts of money gets you there (and gone) quicker. Just ask Buckshot Jones.

Yep - quite a few!

I thought the path to NASCAR was :

Karts,
Formula Ford,
Formula Renault
Formula 3
GP2
F1 (then getting sacked for telling the truth)
NASCAR CWT
NASCAR NW
etc...

Though on a serious note, the lead up to Trucks is often irrelevant. It's really down to $$$$$$$$

You can buy a drive in Nationwide for "as little as" $50,000/round with Key Motorsports. If you bend it, you mend it..... If you're lucky enough, your share of the purse might cover most of it. Then again, you might come over all Joe Nemechek, and then it won't!

As long as you meet the criteria for racing, you're in. That involves being up to speed to satisfy NASCAR.

I looked at buying a seat in a couple of ARCA rounds in 2008, then ran away..... $30,000 per round PLUS DAMAGE (expect it to typically cost $50-80K per round.

I have no idea. We have just sold another Lefthander to a Dutch guy, but as far as ASCARs go, of the ones that came, only Shane Brereton could be bothered to set his car up properly, and I can be arsed to go chasing them to race with us anymore. We let them in to do them a favour, if they don't want to take it up, I wont be asking again.

Your issues are exactly the same as I with my meager efforts to race overseas and do stuff American drivers can't be arsed with.

I'd make my life 10 times easier if I just went down the road and raced stock cars instead of trying to fiddle around overseas.

I think it's a hard deal trying to come from overseas to somewhere and fit in and find a place in that racing culture, especially when you can't move there full time, unless you have a source of income to sustain yourself. Nascar and the stock car community is a whole nother world.

I believe they have a driver for one already. They also have a third car being built. Their cars are very good, I have driven them and they are easy as fast as mine. Trouble is, they need a good driver in all the time to get results. Keith Whalley won at least two races last year, but without a regular paying driver, he can't do all the rounds. I have honestly thought about shelving mine and renting theirs for a year!
