F3 Junior

Hi i'm new here.
Just want to know if anybody knew of the F3 Junior lineup for 2002.
I heard there is a Malaysian driving for Fortec this year.He was the one who got 7th place in the F Renault last year.

Is this true?

Hi King1977,
Welcome to the forum.
Yes, you must be referring to Mohammed Fairuz. He drove in Formula Renault last year, coming a very respectable 7th.

Fred Goddard Racing is the "official" junior team to Fortec Motorsport in F3 this season. FGR are a well established team with a background oif several years racing in F3 as well as preparing and restoring old F1 cars etc for the BOSS formula and TGP.

FGR were F3 class "b"/Scholarship champions in 1991/2000 & 2001.

Thanks Takuma for the info.
I was looking for Fairuz name in the driver lineup yesterday but i cannot find it.The reason why i'm looking for it is because there is a news report saying Fairuz had sign a 1 year deal with Fortec this season.

Francesca did you see any F renault races last year?

Fairuz only did c 30 laps at Snett on Thursday, his gearbox exploded.

Looks like a long hard weekend for the FGR boys to get the car ready for the next test.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Mohammed Fairuz race in Lotuses in 2000, under the name of "Fairuz F." until they figured out what his full name was when he got to Formula Renault?

King1977, if you're after information about how Mohammed Fairuz did in Formula Renault in 2001, his best qualifying was 5th and he got a 3rd place at Snetterton. There's a full results listing and championship table on my site, ask if you want the address.

Thanks Paul Rayner.
I'm not sure about where he was racing in 2000.

Glad if you could give me the address to your website.

Just want to ask,do you think he is better than Alex Yoong?
Cause for me personally i don't think Alex Yoong is really that good but then I might be wrong.

Thanks for the info Takuma.

Where can I read about the testing?
Was he doing well before the gearbox exploded?

In 2000 Faruz was driving in formula ford for Andy Welch Racing, the same team that at early stages of their careers ran Mario Haberfels, Dan Wheldon and Al Cohelo. Andy Welch also engineered Dan Eaves to his Renault Spider championship and is now a very highly respected freelance engineer working with young drivers.

You can find the times for all test days and races etc at www.mstworld.com For info on the british f3 series try the official site www.fota.co.uk or www.racinglines.com which has an extensive f3 section, wich has a very good range of pictures.

( There are other racing information site avalable, as it says in bbc adverts!)

I think it was either junior or senior fords he did in 2000. And he did dismally as well. Which goes to show how some people take to renault much better, whilst some are better in a ford/f3. Another example is Robert Bell.

I check out in a news archieve in my country. There was nothing about the FFord thing. But I got his full name Mohammad Fairuz Fauzy. So maybe it was him going by the name of Fairuz F.He got a brother who is doing carting here in Malaysia and doing very well too.

And what interest me the most was, they say that the F1 Arrows team are interested in him.

I hope he will do an excellent job this year.

Unfortunately, MST doesn't have previous year's results available on their site, which is a shame.

Thanks for clearing that up, Takuma, I knew he raced on something on the TOCA package, couldn't remember which series it was.
