In at the Deep end
Wasn't it nice to have a driver on Post 10 at Mallory yesterday?
I was sitting with him and his wife at breakfast and they were really looking forward to their day's marshalling. His wife ended up on post 2 and between the two of them I think they had just about every incident that happened! All praise to them both - they'd left home in Eastbourne at 4 am to come to Mallory. They were rewarded with some cracking races as well - great day for all I think. |

Maybe you could co-erce his wife to marshal while he races?

I suspect that is what is happening! He is in the Caterham Graduates series and they offer championship points for Marshalling (don't you love Kim Denning who I think came up with that idea?) I think their son did the series last year so they are definitely getting the idea the motorsport is a family thing!
They were both singing the praises of marshals yesterday and were trying to get other people to try a day on the bank (or in the pit lane, assembly area, startline) as well. Wouldn't it be nice if more series did this? |

It would indeed! If he is doing the Graduate series he might well be at Brands Hatch for the Formula Ford Festival as they have a lot of Caterhams joining the fun this year. If so, you must give me their names and I will go along to say hello and to try and make them equally as welcome as you did.

Can't remember their Christian names but I think they said their surname was Reach. I just hope they enjoyed their day - I think he really earned his signature as he was on the busiest post.

And when I saw the title of this thread I thought the lake had claimed some more car parts..
Good on the driver for coming on bank, they do seem to realise quite why yellow flags are used after coming on bank.. maybe the F1 boys should all on bank... |
