Rob Barff in Lister at Silverstone
Subject to him finding a budget of £15,000, Rob Barff has been offered a drive with Justin Keen in the Lister Prototype in the ELMS at Silverstone next month. He is however predicting a short fall in that budget of around £5000 .
Does anyone know of anyone or any companies looking to sponser a talented British racing driver so he can compete ijn a British built car, with a British driver line up at Britains premier track in Britains best race this year. If so then put them in contact with Rob Barff ASAP Regards Chris |

No mention of John Nielsen. I take it, he isn't in the equation for any further drives for Lister!

Hello Mr S.Bourdais,
this would be a great opportunity to help Rob after effectively destroying his 2004 season with that stupid overtaking manoevre at leMans. And compared to Martin Shorts hole in the pocket with a writeoff LMPthis seems to be a bargain... |

So...I assume Rob will be driving the Storm LMP?? (The Storm GT not being eligible for the LMES race)
Seems strange that John Neilsen is not driving it - from what I have read elsewhere, Essex Invest are sponsoring the car for the longer term (next years Le Mans having already been touted), and as he bought the sponsor with him, I would expect to see him behind the wheel. I would *love* to see Lister doing well; the car looks and sounds awesome, and the team does a great job on a very limited budget, that said, I've been really disappointed with the performance so far - I know they targeted a finish rather than a podium at Le Mans but they still seemed well off the pace, even with a quality driver like JN behind the wheel. Anyone know if they're still planning on producing a car to the new regs for next year as has been rumoured? Given their seeming budget problems, I fear that they may not.... |

I think the Storm GT will be put on the back burner for now. Last I heard the new LMP1 was still going ahead. If the 2005 regs for 'old' spec cars stay the same, as has been rumoured, Lister may keep the current LMP1 car for another year.
With the Lister apparently being one of the quickest cars in the wet at the Nurburgring, and having a good top speed at LM, everthing is in place to put together a good qualifying performance at Silverstone. |
