So how is it??
So many big events have happened this year.. the growth of 2 powerful packages, but sort of working together.. and the circuits have sorted out their problems.. So it should be the start of something good.. but I get the feeling that the grass roots of motorsport are being ignored / being taken for granted .. surely that's a dangerous prospect. However, I like the growth of such features as the Caterham race days and the development of series with many old cars from dying championships. Plus a new circuit - Rockingham.. Mind you we're losing one - lydden.. a great loss?? |

I'm quite optomistic. There seems to be a proper consolidation of profesional racing going on, Powertour looks great for next year and hopefully BTCC will get some good guest series.
At grass roots level there continues to be sensible initiatives which combine dying classes, and the contiued steady growth in amature classes, as well as the worlds best historic racing. Finally, look at the international series coming to the country next year, ALMS, FIA GT (+FIA Touring cars), F1, FIA Sportscars, Champ cars just off the top of my head. Roll on March! |

You can (probably) add DTM to that list as well. Also, if you include bike racing there are two rounds of the World Superbike championship and one round of the 500cc World championship. Things are certainly lookng good.

Best historics in the world, certainly.. Plus excellent series coming to visit..
But I'm concerned with the likes of the 750 MC.. with the loss of track time, as being squeesed out by BMP and losing Lydden.. I'm a little concerned that the clubbie may suffer!! |

In a way less track time could be a good thing. Provided the prices don't get hiked, less track means less championships which means the existing pool of competitors compete in races with bigger fields. That's my optomistic point of view any way. If you can't get more than 20 cars then you should get run a championship. No more fiascos like the god awful Protons.
