Who had the best drive at Bathurst?

Sort of an open poll.

Who do you think had the best drive yesterday ?

Hard to say really.

Lowndes/Murphy/Jones all had gritty determined drives.

I was thinking more of who did well considering the car they had / team they drive for.

Dean Canto was flying. His pit entry stuffed it all up though.

Kind of agree with that - Bargs and Frosty did a great job pretty well all day.

As an added bonus, Frosty even took out a likely Holden podium sitter as well so he gets extra points!

The winners don't always make the best drivers on the day. Although Murph drove superbly, Lowndes and Seton still got second on the grid and only as few seconds behind despite eight pit stops. The oil dramas weren't their fault.

I was impressed by lowndes, and it seems that FPR have their car sorted finally. Shame he's leaving almost. Murph was consistently faster throughout the race, and I congratulate him for the win. HRT were quick as well, albeit two laps down...
SBR managed to stuff bathurst up in their usual fashion.

If he was as motivated as he seemed to be at Bathurst at every track he went to, it would be a given....

I thought Nathan Pretty and Allan Simonsen had a good run in what from the outside looked to be a very ugly car to drive to get into the top 10....

I think Lowndes once again carried the FPR Falcon.
If only he had the HP of the SBR and Ozemail Cars.

I think that's a tad harsh GTR.
Last year, as I'm sure you know, was affected by a number of issues - not the least being with Briggs in the first half.
The second half was influenced by the fact he wasn't going to have a full-time drive this year.
Also, there were problems qualifying anywhere near the pointy end, and there are alot of tracks that are hard to pass on, and he was under pressure not to bend the car!

He's only had Sandown and Bathurst to show how "motivated" he is this year.

Sandown: 30th after pitting on lap 9 - 18th on lap 39 when retired with engine problem - not much chance to show anything. (Motivated or not).

Bathurst: Started from the rear of the grid.
15th when pitted for fuel on lap 16 - rejoined in 28th.
2nd by lap 46 then had driver change on lap 49.
That's something like 43 places in 46 laps.

He gets my vote!

Dumbrell had to have the drive of the weekend, this is a bloke that many people in this and other forums have bagged earlier in the year saying that he should not even be driving and then after a good Sandown he goes to Bathurst and qualifies the car in third. He drove a good race, was unlucky to lose a lap in a safety car period then was at the front of the pack in another safety car period and when the race went green he drove his ring off to stay in front so he would not go down a lap again and unfortunately hit the wall.

There were many great drives but the standout move for me was Lowndes taking the lead at the end of mountain straight after the restart. 4th to 1st up the inside on cold tyres. Sheer brilliance!!

I agree that Lowndes/Seton did an excellent job, I wonder where they would have been on the podium had they not had to stop 8 times
I'm still wondering where all that oil disappeared too????

No Baloney lost Mr Dumbrell his lap... and it was when he was trying to get it back that the crash happened.

The guy was seriously quick all weekend, a changed attitude to racing, but still the same happy kid

Onwards to Paul Dumbrell Racing in 2005...
