I can't see why they would have much to say. They raced, and got max points.

I think they are (rather cleverly) staying out of it. The less their name is associated with Indy, the better.

Agreed, Bridgestone have wisely kept quiet on this one.

They have no reason to say anything. They did their job right and got max points. Congratulations to them, nothing wrong with them, their work or their way of dealing with the situation.

I don't think Bridgestone were involved in the pre-race discussion as to what should happen anyway.

Agreed. Let the results do the talking. After all, that is what racing is about. (But they must be feeling a tad smug tho.......)

I don't see how they can be overly smug, pretty hollow victory, but I do see what you mean.

I actually think Bridgestone would sympathise with Michelins plight in a way, given the danger that the japanese company accidentally put a couple of MotoGP riders under last season.

I think it's right that Bridgestone keep a low profile to avoid looking smug, but their victory wasn't exactly hollow: they'd designed a tyre that could do Indianapolis, while Michelin clearly hadn't.

Yes, but it wasn't a mesmerising "we are well and truly back now" victory was it?

They can be happy they came up with the bright idea of bringing a tyre that could withstand the track!

But from a competitive sense, unless they trounce Michelin again at Magny Cours, they won't feel too great about it.

For the record, I felt Ferrari would be in with a real shout of victory at Indy, even with 20 runners. I think they looked strong there.

Yes... a bit off topic, but they had a pretty good fuel load onboard.

However i think BS wouldve been quietly smug at Michelin's screw up after the beating BS have taken so far this year...

This isn't from Bridgestone per say, but an interview with Paul Stoddart of Minardi (explicit language). He really speaks his mind. Great stuff!

Very interesting. It's good to hear from someone deply involved, but who isn't trying to cover his backside in some way.

You sure about that?

Stoddart is a very sharp business operator and also very much a politician involved in the future direction of Formula One. His animosity towards Mosley, particularly this season, is well-known, and this would have to have been a perfect opportunity for Stoddart to sink the boot in to Mosley once more, as well as to grab some valuable points.

I haven't seen anywhere what Midland/Jordan have had to say about going back on their word, and quite possibly Schnaider/Kolles don't care. So who knows whether Jordan actually did promise not to race and then turned their back on their promise?

Don't get me wrong - not suggesting for a second he isn't biased or hasn't got an axe to grind, but compared to Michelin, the FIA, the retired teams or even Ferrari, no one is blaming him for anything, so he's not covering his bum.

The problem with Stoddart's position is that he undeniably had every interest in having the race running with a full compliment. The fact it didn't run will bother him from that perspective, as opposed to any altrusim.

Stoddart was right in a way. When he was talking ( on ITV ), he was saying how he didn't car about Minardi scoring points, but obviously only because of the fact that now Minardi will not catch Jordan this season. Minardi will not score 5 more pts than Jordan this year.

This was not a hollow victory for Bridgestone.

If, lets say, a circuit had a top speed and record temperatures that resulted in every car but the Ferraris retiring from engine seizure, that would be the most resounding victory for the engine manufacturer. This is the same.
