Denver Race Thread (includes RACE spoilers)
Only 16 cars this weekend is a little lighter that usual. No second cars for RuSport or Rocketsports. Kasemets will be racing in Grand-Am this weekend and will be back for Road America.
Allmendinger has snatched provisional pole for at least a guaranteed front row start. |

Ranger has a nice qualifying time too, not just the position. I think that's his best qualifying position of the year too.
CTE seems to be off their recent pace relative to the others. Does anyone know how TA found Tagliani another tub? |

the TA tub should be the one that they have pieced together with some bodgy welding and some superglue from all the pieces of cars they have picked up from previous race tracks this season.

Saturday Report-
I made the mistake of over working the past few weeks(100+ hours in the past week alone), so I was already exhausted before going to denver. It all pretty much came together today(exhaustion, heat, sun, lack of water) and I pretty much collapsed at the end of the day. I missed the CCIC dinner to great regret, but didn't think it worth going as miserable as I was. I'm better now, so hopefully after a good nights rest and plenty of gatorade I'll be ready to go for the race tomorrow. Bourdais is pretty much the model of perfection, so I expect him to win tomorrow. AJ is looking good. Tracy appears to have had his cage rattled by AJ, which is fun to watch. He was up there on the board, but he made plenty of mistakes. Ranger and Dominguez really did well and both have a chance of a good placing in the race. Dan Clarke drives like a scatterbrain. Katherine was making huge mistakes left and right. I believe she is quite talented and just based on everything I've heard and seen, she isn't fit enough and has some confidence problems. I think what she needs is a good driver coach. I firmly believe she has heaps of potential, but has to tie all that together now. I didn't realize we only had 16 cars until the end of the today! Everyone is excited about the DP01 and I believe that is going to boost the series, much like the new car did with atlantics. The FBMW race was quite entertaining with a lot of good passing. Friday crowds seemed to be up on last year, but this saturday crowd seemed to be the same or down from last year. No Speed World Challenge GT cars this year which is total bs. Only the touring cars. With transam gone I felt the supports were lacking but maybe I'm spoiled. The vintage race came off better than expected and it seemed everyone really enjoyed it and competitors seemed to have a blast too. No drifting this year which sucks. Also the motorcross stunt team sucks. Not in talent, but they do 2-3 short shows a day. Last year they seemed to be constantly at it when there was no action on the track. They have reprofiled some areas slightly. One can now see the long straight quite well. And they have added some cool things like beach volleyball when there is no racing on track. Overall they have made things very fan friendly and everyone was pleased when they kept blasting champcar t-shirts and caps into the crowd. No official program, only a free booklet which is fine by me. A lot of sponsors/vendors are using scantily clad women with low cut tops. Thumbs up. A former Miss Cleveland GP is doing some pit lane commentary. She is a nice girl and knowledgable champcar fan, but a terrible broadcaster. The voice shrillness is ear drum shattering. She definitely needs some vocal lessons, but if she can temper the voice a bit, she might have potential in the future. I applaud champcar(or the production team) for actually giving a knowledgable fan a break in the media. I know the centrix bit disrupted things a bit, but some other sponsors like frontier airlines, chick-fil-a, cingular and bridgestone have stepped up. All in all it's a great event and tomorrow should be good. If I'm here next year, I'll spring for the hospitality seats. For $349 or whatever the shade, nice seats, free food and drink is worth it. |

Apparently he doesn't like the red tyres as much as the blacks.
The pit stop hasn't helped as he now has traffic, although he is clearing it fairly quickly. Seb has stopped... |
