The new Champ Car is coming
This car looks really nice. Hopefully it goes as well as it looks.
I wonder who will get the job of turning it's first laps in anger. Lucky stiff http://www.speedtv.com/articles/auto/champcar/28505/ |

Hold on the article says that the DP01 will be powered by the same engine. I thought there was going to be a new engine as well.

Nifty. Pulled down instead of pushed, eh? That should make for some good racing.

What a great looking car! But is there enough time to properly test it before the start of the 07 season - such as crash testing?

Has a number of F1 elements with the curved sidepods and raised nose. Looks a pretty good package.

I thought it looked hideous in the first pictures, though that side picture looks fantastic. Can't wait to see it properly!

That's a good point. At first I hated it, I thought it was so ugly and was dreading the day we lost the Lola, but anyway from that side pic as mentioned it looks just as good if not better! I can't wait for 2007!

The first drawings looked quite crap to be honest but now it looks amazing. Despite the raised nose, it still looks like a Champ Car should look.
Two things. The rear wing endplates are quite large, and also the rear view mirrors... don't they look a little too low for good vision? |

Looking good. I like it.
I seem to recall someone saying the dp01 was nothing but a bunch of drawings on some toilet paper. Guess it's coming to dinner afterall. |

Wow it looks really good once you maximse the photo, unless you do that it does look kinda squashed though. On a more serious note however the car does look a lot more like a conventional single seater that you would see over here in Europe than previous designs, at least side ways on. Havent seen a front angle photo of the car yet. It is a little shorter, isnt it? Anyway it defintely looks like a improvement over the current Lola. IMO.

A Champ Car is very different from what CART was, well starting to look, IMO the new car is ideal. It's new, fresh, different, very nice looking, a real race car, and most importantly it looks just how a Champ Car should look like. |

I'm actually doing a diecast car for Oriol ServiÃ*, transforming a 2000 Lola into a 2002 one, and I've been able to see how much slimmed down and trimmed the car truly is. No wonder it helped bury the Reynards... However, I'm all for the Panoz. Let's hope it has a good birth, without many teething problems. I remember the Dallara GP2 cars having brake and electronic problems at their first races, if I recall correctly. A reliable car like the Lola has been is what is needed. |

Can't wait to see the DP01 on track, what a great looking car. It will look awesome in the Rahal-Letterman colors.

Is it safe? If Bourdais would have been driving this car at Cleveland, would he still be alive today ?

I don't care how old it is! I still adore those cars.
A new car is refreshing of course, and it does look good however. But I'll miss those old style cars. |
